Loudest Trunk Car Box

and p.s. caddilac matt look into 4th order bandpass with the port facing right at the armrest, i saw a set up on ROE like that, VERY NIIICE!
I been curious about doing something like that as well in my car.I would love to see that. I even thought about removing my rear seats and doing a simple setup with (2) 18s in its place.

I really would like to keep my rear seat, just for those times when I need it. My current box in my sig was port and sub rear firing for the longest, but fliped the box up to fire the sub and port toward the trunk lid and notice a gain by ear inside the cabin.

My rear deck has no speakers and stocks removed. I plan on cutting a big port in the rear deck to help vent some of the output into the cabin.

If you are not into competing and you would like it to sound good. Sell off the 15s and get 12s, and do a T-Line subs and ports back.

how do you properly seal the trunk?
basically just make sure there are no leaks into the trunk. any opening allowing pressure out of the cabin takes away from the spl. some people baffle it off, others might use expanding foam, but I used a ton of sheets and stuffed them in all of the openings. thats the easiest way and probably least effective, but if you want to see how it will sound with the trunk sealed off it is not a bad alternative...

Like... bed sheets?

I was thinking about building a center port box with two 15's and having the port behind the armrest... idk tho because I have a metal brace behind my seats, with a lot of electronic doodads bolted to it //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

before i sealed the trunk I tested my idea by taping the boards into place just to give me an idea if I was headed in the right direction. Had to re tape after every test LOL but it worked.

My trunk is sealed but its with the box pushed all the way to the trunk lid. Wooden floor and 2 sides and a top added to the face of the box to extend it to the back of the b pillar. There I used lots of foam, tape, silicone, more foam etc. to seal each leak I found.

Now when I open the trunk the sound doesnt change. All you hear is the box flex and my MOMO 6 x 9's.

Did you eleminate trunk rattle altogether then?

what kind of expanding foam did you use, and i think mine is going to be kinda like thorshammer, im planning on building a floor into my trunk, i have a nice little lip on the back of my backseat that i can bolt onto, and then just make the baffle take up as much space as possible and fill in the rest, and then just make the rest of my box off of the floor and the baffle, i might fiberglass it though, it will look better than foam, and thorshammer, did you deaden you trunk at all?

Tim Schelnut (sp?) built up some loud trunk designs. Dave DaSilva also had a nice trunk design. Both used 1st gen neons and were farting out 153-155 dB
Don't forget about mike stiers too. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
