Looking to upgrade stock sound

Ive been looking to upgrade my OEM audio. Its a 2008 Subaru legacy 2.5i SE - Stock is 4 Mids and 2 tweeters running at 100 watts from what I know.

I wanted to redo the 4 mids and put 2 6.5 Subs in the back deck (I listed what I was looking at below) I'm trying to get a bit more information from a community that has a better idea. I've heard mixed things from the audio shops around me so it will probably be a personal install by myself and a friend who used to do car audio.


I was looking at dual Skar Audio EVL-65 D4 6.5' as well as running 4 Pioneer Ts-A1676R 6.5' for the doors. I wasn't going to replace the stock tweeters.

I was wondering about a good AMP to run for the setup I planned and if anyone has good suggestions for the build I was looking at installing.

Are your plans to box the 6.5 Skar subs or run them free air. I think it will be hard to get good bass out of free air 6.5s. Since you will mount them on the rear deck, it will be a bit harder to box them in. Are you looking to run your doors off the head unit?
