Looking to Upgrade my Component Speakers

Currently I have Elemental Designs eDi 6500s 6.5" component speakers from my old car and now looking to upgrade and put them in my new car. What components would you recommend in the Sub $300 mark? They would be going into a 2007 Mercury Milan.

Also, how much do you think I could sell or should list the eDi 6500s for?

I have been out of the market for a while. I haven't heard of PHD, where can you buy them?

I was reading up on the JBL MS-62C's and look nice.

Would the CDT's be an upgrade, since they did make eDi 6500's. Granted not which series they were similar to.

Any ideas what I could get for the 6500's?

Ive heard that the PHD speakers are really good sounding speakers,yet, I have not heard them.I run CDT, and to me they sound great for the money.If you are looking for more of sq type speakers, Id look into some Morel,or Hertz speakers.I replaced some polk DB speakers with Hertz in my Honda CRV, and they sound amazing for the money.Just my 0.02cents.You can look up a vendor on here that sells PHD,if you would like to get some info. on those,in the Vendor section.

Check out JL AUDIO new C3 comps...theyre really nice and can get them around $330

Speaking of which, JL is kind of nice as they still continue making the 5x7 version of its C5 components. That would probably be a great pick at this price for installing in a Ford. The JBL MS-62C might also be worth checking out as they have very good reviews. Hybrid Audio Imagine comps are very good as long as they're running active.

Also, check the Image Dynamics XS-57 comps. These are supposed to be very good and quite expensive (usually >$400 for the 6.5 version). However, some vendors are selling the XS-57 pretty cheaply, like under $300. I think these are being discontinued, but they're very nice speakers still. On thing I heard on a forum is that their neo magnet is actually more expensive to produce than that of Image Dynamics IDQ subwoofers.

This might be a dump question but how are Rockford Fosgate T series stuff? Or even some of Alpine components?

I just put in some RE XXX 6.5 comps and man they sound awesome and I haven't had a chance to seal up the doors yet, I will say you will need some power to really get the most out of them I have them on about 275 rms each and they sound great!

The RE XXX 6.5C's do look interesting. Not sure if I have the mounting depth. Also, the tweeter housing looks huge. Ideally I wanted to mount the tweeter in the stock location, in the sail panel. Do the tweeters come with different mounting options and mounts?

JBL MS-62C is the answer to your problems! Can pick them up for between $200-$300. Goodluck.
