Looking to buy 05 gsxr750. Have a few questions for motorcycle people, no one else.

Yea it has a clean title. He had it registered and everything before just has a bunch of other bikes he rides more. Yea it does need some TLC but I do know they dont come with undertail exhausts. I actually liked it but I think thats because no one else has it, Im curious as to why you think it wasnt done well? It is heat shielded.

The rims don't match either, so that makes me wonder what else has happened to it.
He said he has the back wheel and would put it on if I wanted...but I didnt think about that. I mean I will have mechanic do an overview so if anything is wrong with forks etc than he will be the one to tell me.

I don't know, to me it just doesn't look right. Just looks like they tried to do the exhaust as cheap as possible.
I mean it was custom made by my friends brother, not like I cant take it off as I was kinda thinking of putting on an LOR 10" anyways.

I appreciate the comments though as thats why I posted, to see what others think about the situation. As I stated earlier though the reason it is so cheap, so my friend tells me, is because his brother got it from his good friend who did not ride it anymore and just wanted to get rid of it for a steeeal

Maybe it is too good to be true. Im having my friend who is an airplan mechanic and put together his own Honda CBRR600 so he can take a look also before I take it and pay money to have a bike mechanic look at it for anything I might have missed.

Just don't jump into buying it. Test drive the hell out of it. Take it to 1 or more motorcycle shops and have them check it over really good. Check the spot good where the frame slider was on there and make sure it didn't crack the frame or bend it. Seems like theres a lot of rust on it too. That chain will need to be replaced. Just consider everything before you buy.

And don't take anything I'm saying as hating on it or anything, but I definitely would not pay 2500 for it. Its a 2005, 8000 miles and there is a ton of damage. I don't care what he tells you, thats not a "good deal" not even close.

Yea he doesnt ride it a lot so I will double check the rusty spots, it sits under cover outside uncovered though. Idk I think Im just going to have my friend and another mechanic look at it then ride the shit out of it before buying. I have a lot more questions to ask him about its previous encounters.

Does carfax work on motorcycles?

If I've learned anything from looking at motorcycles to buy for the last year, it's that asking questions from the previous owner is absolutely useless.

If you don't have a receipt, assume it wasn't done. "Never been dropped" means it probably was. "Only dropped once, in a parking lot" means a hell of a lot faster than that. Learn your bike of choice's quirks and things that break often, that the PO will know and lie to you about.

A cheap motorcycle will turn into a much more expensive motorcycle when you start adding the cost of fixing the "fixes". That's what I was struggling with last year...almost pulling the trigger on some really sub-par bikes.

Just to throw this out here
