Looking into this new setup, let me know what you think

Hey guys,

Well I went to a local shop here and was looking around, and I came up with the following:

PIONEER AVIC N2 - $1999 (can get online for $1300!)

KICKER 1200 WATT KX.1 CLASS D SUB AMP - $799 (can get online for $365!)

KICKER 175 WATT KX.2 4 CHANNEL AMP - $299 (can get online for $25!)

KICKER DUAL 12" COMPVR SUB ENCLOSURE - $339 (can get online for $225!)

INFINITI CS1060 6-1/2 2WAY COMPONENT SYSTEM $399 (can get online for $113!)

As you can see the guy tried to rip me off by over $1500, but that's why I went there to see what the best setup for me is and I could buy it online. Now back to my question, what I have is a passat w8 model and it has 8 speakers. Is there any way to get all 8 hooked up with an aftermarket head unit, even if I have to buy new speakers for this system anyway? I am currently unsure if I wanna buy the Infinite speakers but he told methat is the best I will get to having all 8 speakers hooked up. They are currently amplified by god knows what, but it sounds pretty good.

Now what do you guys think about this setup (the whole system), and also what would you recommend in my situation with 8 speakers since I have 8 in there already I dont really wanna let 2-4 sit there doing nothing.

Thanks for your help, appreciate it

First of all I gotta ask why you HAVE to have 8 speakers? IMHO, you can get way better results with a simple 2-way front stage that's setup well, with set of good coaxials in the back if you have a lot of rear passengers since it is a 4 door. Everything sounds pretty good (not too sure on prices but the equipment itself sounds pretty good). What's your budget on comps? I think you could do a little better in this area because I never really did like the sound of Infinity's, but that's just my opinion again. Give us some more info on what you want from your setup and I'm sure people wouldn't mind helping you out a little.

Factory installed 8 speakers, 2 tweaters, 2 in the dash on driver/passenger side, 2 doors, and 2 in the back. Pretty weird, but most premium sound systems from the factory come like this now apparently with newer cars. Kinda pisses me off. I don't mind not using all 8, but I just didnt want to have 2-4 speakers just sitting there not powered on, was wondering if there was any way to use them all. Ya know what I mean? But I am prolly just gonna go with the 4 speakers.

But yea, I am looking for really good sound quality for the most part plus the DVD/GPS. I am new to car audio, I had a mini budget pos system before but never was serious about it. I am willing to drop some money now, so I am open to what anyone has to suggest on what to get. I was told those were pretty much the best Components for Sound Quality (the Infiniti's) and having heard them they sounded pretty good. Open to suggestions though.

Thanks again for your reply, hopefully by tomorrow I will have a good idea on what I should get

Thanks,

Shuz

sounds like a good plan, with the 8 speakers, does that include mid in door, tweeter in dash or pillar? If so, get a good compoenet set in front, coax the rear and run the amp to the sub box. If it's our dual Comp VR setup box, the Kicker KX600.1 will be plenty, no need for the 1200.1....

i didnt want to amp the speakers to the sub amp because sound quality is a lot better if not done so, am i right? i remember hearing a couple different setups (amped in to sub box and seperate) and seperate always sounds so much more crisp

thanks,

In all reality, only 4 speakers are necessary for a nice sounding front stage. 2 tweeters and 2 midrange/midbass drivers. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
