Looking for the best of the best head unit!

They may be useless to you but they are a feature the old alpine does not have. I'm only saying this because I swapped from a two year tuned 117 and the straight out of the box 80prs was better. If I didn't have a clue I would keep my mouth shut. Oh and pandora control is awesome.
Haha we all know how hard it is to pick up your device to press next on pandora or change artist.

So after you added that imprint and BT mod how much would your 9887 cost? You know, the same things the 80 comes with.. What do you have against the pioneer? Besides the fact you obviously never used one.
I dont have anything against the Pioneer. I have something against blatant fanboys that spread bullshit. You jock ride DD all day long too. You brought up useless features on the 80PRS and left out how the Pico fuse can randomly go bad for what ever reason. The pico fuse used in almost all the Pioneer HU's is a crap shoot. It makes almost any non Pioneer HU a better choice. You could do everything right by installation specifications and it can still randomly go bad. Hot swapping RCA's isnt required contrary to popular belief.

The 80PRS isnt the end all be all of HU and there are comparable headunits out that have similar features for similar price points. Of the important features, the 80PRS only has USB and BT built in up on the 9887. For the price you could get a 9887 and BT module you still are $50 less than the 80PRS atleast.

I never used the Imprint. I bought it because I like to have all of the accessories with my gear. For the Imprint I think I paid like $45 for it on eBay. Between the 9887 and the BT which I actually used I paid $220 for both of them. Sold the Imprint for twice what I paid for it. Sold the BT for twice what I paid for it.

You never said what was better in that price range besides the outdated, nonexistent 9887.. How am I spouting BS when I continue to bring up features nothing else has? If that's BS than I would love to know what you think are facts.

Outdated and non existent? You can find them all over the place. For being outdated it sure does offer most of the features the 80PRS offers and the 80PRS was released almost 5 years later. Pretty sure that makes the 80PRS outdated.

Also I do give you an example of a better HU minus the useless features and for less. Even if you wanted BT, XM, etc. you would still be into the 9887 for less than the 80PRS and not have a Pico fuse to worry about.

Since your asking though the JVC KD SH1000, Clarion DXZ785USB just to name a few. I can guaruntee they both sound better than the 80PRS. It all comes down to what features you want. If you would rather pay to control Pandora (who uses it besides you?) from your HU get the 80PRS. If you dont need Pandora or dont want BT just yet there are other options.

If it's just the pico that bothers you I haven't heard of anyone having issues with this model. I know I've hot swapped rcas with no issue.

Congrats. I said it was a crap shoot. It could happen to you randomly. Its a terrible design flaw in almost all of the Pioneer HU's unless you spend $1000+.

From what I read the 80prs does not play xm radio... correct me if I'm wrong. So, that would leave alpine 149bt or kenwood x998. I like the old alpines better like the 9887 but I'm having a hard time finding one with comes with the xm tuner/brains. I'll probably get the new alpine.

I have the Sirius XM modules for the Alpine units and I no longer use them. I have no antenna but I do have both modules and an AI-NET cable. Just lemme know if you're interested.

I use the 9886 with Imprint and I use Pandora from a tablet but I could just as easily use it from my phone.
Bluetooth connectivity from a head unit that didn't come with it and without the $150.00 Alpine module? Twenty bucks from Parts Express. Works great.
Pandora is not BT it's USB. Big difference in SQ considering the 24bit DAC it has on the USBs.
