Looking for some 10" subs that 1. Can get loud

2. Are efficient...like at least 89 dbs or more

and 3. Have good SQ ... will be in a sealed box.

First thought was Alpine Type X but they are like 81 dbs 1W/1M, second thought W6V2.....pricing may be a barrier on these tho as well as the X's. The guy thats buying these is probably only gonna have 600-700 bucks to spend on subs after amps and shit is paid for ..................and of course i get paid for installing and doing the legwork.

oh yeah...he wants 4 tens. And yes i tried to talk him out of 4 but he is adament about that feature.

I dont know about DB's, but the 10w7's get very loud, especially more than 2, and clean as hell......pricey, of course.

Although expensive, they do hit hard as hell, and have the other qualities you are after.

The only 10's you will find with a sensitivity over 89dB are pro audio drivers.

Higher sensitivity= worse low end bass

Basically he'd have a bunch if super punchy subs that wont hit the lows.

hmmmmmm....definately not what he's looking for. Those IDQ's are looking pretty good at that price. He could actually afford to pay for my labor if he goes with those.

I would say that's a bit of an exaggeration.

89db isn't super sensitive, even for a 10"

And even then Hoffman doesn't say you can't have LFE with a higher sensitivity driver...only that the enclosure needs to be larger //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif Not to mention with the added affects of cabin gain/transfer function, LFE isn't too large of an issue.

But in the end I agree that worrying about sensitivity for subwoofers is generally overrated. As Immacomputer mentioned...the enclosure is going to be a dominate contributor.
