Thats what? the same price as the w7 12"? Or the price of 2 12" l7s. Not too bad imo. I will not be buying from them for reasons other than their pricing //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif. Pricing would however play a factor, if the other reasons weren't enough.
I've been eyeballing that lms4000 and the tc3000 10 maybe 12 //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif.
lol 2 12" L7's cost 800$. I don't think so. Maybe like 4 12" L7's lol.

ROFLMFAO!! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif
You get get 2 12" W7's for the price of one new XXX.

You guys add to the spice of the forum.
My local JL dealer just today qouted me 650 for a 12w7, he first said 799 and I got him down to 650, he said he could not go lower. When was the w7 introduced 2001?

I hate reading about "the fall of RE". I'm sure they are better off now than they ever have been. Imagine having dealers world wide to distribute your product, hyping it to every n00b that roles in to a audio shop. The sheer profit margin of having a dealer network compared to direct sales, is imaginable.

True they will no longer appeal to the DIY crowd, and you may not be able to afford them now. But there are plenty who can. And plenty who are willing. Lets face it, the new XXX is supposed to be a beast of a sub. And it's new, give it time and the dealer price will drop.

So before you go bashing a company, make sure you understand exactly why you are bashing them. Is there a good enough reason to down them in every thread regarding them? What are you accomplishing?

IMO a re-cone @ $200 is worth every penny. You are basically getting a new sub for $200. Try buying a new one @ that price;)

200$ is expensive whe they used to be 100 not 2-3 weeks ago, and before that less than a 100

im going to assume parts prices didnt go up to where you have to charge an extra 100$, the 100$ price was decent, 200 isnt worth it in my opinion

smart business move... maybe

I do not agree with the completely forgetting about the people that supported them over the years in turn for the "newbies" at the shops that have no idea except the guy at the shop said "this is the slammest yo"

as for the new XXX has anyone seen any numbers that they do?

x2 I guess the new owners decided the price hike was beneficial toward their pocket book.

Nope, just a lot of hush hush

Let me ask all of you something, remember the days when you'd go to every forum and see a thread like "WOW I just got my NEW RE subwoofer, and wow its amazing"

I havent seen one of those for months.......coincidence? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eyebrow.gif.fe2c18d8720fe8c7eaed347b21ea05a5.gif

I dont know how many of you read the true trade magazines for this industry, (Like the 2006 LIS, Voice Coil Magazine)....prices of voice coil raw materials and laminated paper cones go for about $30...if it was some exotic material like carbon fiber, id expect a little more but thats not what RE uses. So you figure the profit margin on that. Im not talkn out my azz, this is plain industry based prices of materials.

You don't see them because they are no longer selling direct. It is much harder to purchase a RE product now. And with the increased price, not as many people can afford them. Of course there will be a decrease in OMG threads. How many OMG JL threads have you read lately? Even for the past year?

Neo mags are extremely more expensive than the standard mag used on most every driver today. Also I'm sure the price of the basket on the MX and XXX is more expensive than the old claw style. Not to mention all the R&D time and money put in to the new drivers. Just ask TC how much their NEO mag drivers will be;)

I see reason for increasing the price on their products. Whether or not we agree with the increased margin is beyond the point. To label a company as "bad" or "the fall of" due to increased prices is asinine IMO.

RE is no perfect company, but I see a lot of personal opinions being thrown in to the mix with the simple facts. Only time will tell if RE will remain a great company as it has in the past 5+ years.

Everyone knows JL is for fegs.

Thanks for that, I didnt know I needed to be schooled on rare earth element non-ferrous metals in production of subwoofer drivers, when I was clearly only talking about the $30 in materials to make the voice coil and cone. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif

it pissses me off that this is the case. but if RE were to lookou t for old time customers then they could create a benfits or discount rate for people who have been in thier system for logn enough time....but that would be like asking business make less money. not gonan happen, especially with these price hikes......ai can understand the new xxx's being kinda pricey (still a bit high though)....but they have shafted us on the recone prices...for sure man....and it's the experienced old time customers and DIY type people that brought that company to where it is today...you think they could be easy on the recone prices but no...
