Looking for comp recommendations for budget build in 2007 Honda Accord

Hey guys,

Just bought an 07 Honda Accord LX and right away I can tell I need to upgrade the system, the rear speakers rattle with any volume and the factory head leaves a lot to be desired. I already have an RF Punch 10" sub and enclosure and a cadence flash F100-5 amp from my previous car. I had mb quart comps in my previous car and was not impressed, however they were mb quarts entry level comps so maybe a step up would help. I need advice on a good comp set in the $100 price range, not looking for volume as much as quality. It's hard from reading reviews on crutchfield and sonicelectronix to tell which are really good, they all get great reviews. Also looking for some decent rear 6x9 speakers, nothing crazy, under $70 would be nice, want more focus on the front comp set.

I know this is a speaker sub section, but if you have suggestions for a budget head unit under $150, something with enough functionality to adjust my highs, mids and lows with 6 preamp outputs, from reviews I'm really looking at this jvc-

Any help on this would be great guys, thanks!

These are a few options I have compiled with my newbie research, someone steer me in the right direction please!

Infinity Reference 6030cs

Infinity Reference 6030cs 6.5" Component Speakers

RE Audio RE6.5C

RE Audio RE6.5C 6.5" RE Series Component Car Speakers

I am just shooting in the dark with these, I don't know anything about volts, hertz, etc so I may be way off with these but I can work with the prices on these. Also, I listen to all types of music, but mainly rock.

Bump

Went to a local place and listened to a set of alpine type-a comps, thought thy sounded pretty decent for the cost and alpine is running a bogo half off right now, still not sure if they are exactly what I want though. I also heard buying from place like sonicelectronix, that you don't get the factory warranty as they aren't licensed dealers of the products, is that true? It would explain why they are so much cheaper than other stores. Any input would be helpful guys, I'd like to purchase equipment by the end of the week. Thanks!

SonicElectronix has a history of buying car audio goods from dealers and distributors when manufacturers will not sell directly to them. However, even for many authorized products they will slash prices either because there is no online price policy to follow or they disregard such policies. Sometimes manufacturers turn a blind eye to this practice. Others have successfully gotten SE to raise their prices or not lower them in the first place.

This is a speaker upgrade package I prepared for your vehicle, if you want another option with a bit different approach.

I think I'm all set with bass from the sub so I'm really just looking for front comps and rear fills. I was eyeing that COM-626CR set, how do they match up to say the alpine type-s comps and rear fills? I heard those yesterday and liked their sound, but they are the only comps aside from my own that I have heard so I have no other comparisons. Are there any other combos you can offer for about the same price with as good or better performance?

I can't guarantee you will be able to fit the 6.5" woofers from COM-626CR into your front doors. That's why the package uses 5.25" components with adapters. It's made to be installed with no cutting of the door. You might like Precision Power components and 6x9 coaxials for rear fill. I know of a set that is extremely shallow, and it sounds pretty good for the money, too. I'll get you more info later.

I have this car. Anything with 3" or less mounting depth is fine, though you will probably need have the shop make adapters for them. Go with 6'5" comps. Being used with a single 10", you may find that these are enough. 6x9s would shift the sound stage to the back, which is not where it usually belongs.

You can kind of see here what it looks like, even though it's covered:
