Looking for advice: 3 way 6.5 speakers

Going with a 3 way plus sub things get very complicated. They can turn out very good or very bad and it shouldn't be jumped into unless you are running passive. Even then trying to align a passive 3 way set is a nightmare.

As for the C5s. They are very neutral and not for everybody. Most shops will bump up the EQ so they sound more alive. You can't do that since you will be listening to them more than just a demo.

Just so I am clear, this is only an issue because I want to run the front speakers off the amp correct? If so, which sounds better....some really good 2 ways on a amp and 6X9s off the 80PRS, OR some 3 ways off the HU and the 6X9s off the amp?

I am only asking because my title mentions looking for 3 ways, but if I pretty much need to get that out of my head, I will shift to asking for some really good 2 ways for the front.

In reality run the front stage 2 way active using the 80 for crossovers, find out where the tweeter needs to be crossed over or you will blow it, ditch the 6x9s. They are not needed. If the front stage is strong you won't need or want rear fill. You won't find many comp cars running rear fill for a reason.

Ok. So Running the front stage 2 way active means powering my front speakers with the amp instead of the HU, right?

I just have a few more questions if you don't mind. FYI, I've never had component speakers or an amp before, hence the type of questions I am asking.

1. Since I am looking to buy component speakers, the "2 way vs 3 way" matter is irrelevant right? I thought that might only be an issue if I were going coaxial.

2. I am having a shop install my equipment - does this mean they will find out where the tweeter needs to be crossed over, or will I need to play around with the HU to figure that out?

3. Since I am going component, I probably should re-ask for speaker suggestions then, huh?

Thanks. A couple of questions.
1. The first one comes up as part of a Marine series. I've seen marine products, but naturally skipped over them because I am buying for a car. This may go without saying, but I assume buying marine is okay for a car since I am buying the product for the size.

2. I assume that 2nd link is for the JBLP660C

3. I was really hoping to find some 3 ways. Wouldn't that be preferable to 2 ways?

I did some looking and I ran across some 3 ways that seem to be nice. Tell me what you think of the JL Audio C5-653.
The jbl ms62 are not marine speakers, not sure how you are checking it lol.

c5s sound decent if you can get them under 240$.

I would not delve into 3 way unless you have skills with fiberglass custom door panel/a-pillar modifications. If you come from coaxials and have no experience with driver placement, I'd recommend you stay with a good 2 way set.

1. With what you are trying to do 2 way comps. Coaxs are frowned upon. Some say put them in the back, now you have a rear that sounds different than the front. Make sence?

2. If you have a shop install get a quote on everything they are going to do and ask here before you do it. Shops are scam artist. When you pick a speaker set out we will show you where to find the points.

3. Can't really tell you what you are going to like but we can give options with a budget and tell you what the characteristics are.

Ok. I am officially looking at component. I wasn't clear in that before, but that's what I am doing. LOL.

I am trying to pick a speaker set tonight so I can place the order. Caraudiogiants.com seems to be competitive with Sonic Electronix, so hopefully before I hit the sack, I can narrow it down to a set.

For a cheaper speaker they will work as advertised.
The jbl ms62 speakers? I cannot find anything that doesn't come up Marine. Both Amazon and Crutchfield yield Marine results.

Looks like I found them. jbl ms62C

They might be marine grade. You can use them. How much do you want to spend?Where do you want the tweeter to be? Sail panel, door, a pillar. How much power are you going to have?
Ideally I would like to get some good suggestions, and pick based on price instead of throwing out a number and being limited with options.I don't want to spend over $300 but there might be flexibility depending on how much added value I get for the price.

I am now unsure about the power I will have. Originally I was hoping to get a Pioneer GM-A5602 amp. I am not trying to do too much, but I want to do a little bit.

That's one thing about speakers. You get what you pay for. You can go cheaper with raw drivers and have good sound quality but you won't have to much midbass or output. The more you pay the more you get of everything. I'll dig up a few I like in your range.

Thanks for all the links. I'm about to head to the movies.

Camp this thread, I will have a few more questions. I haven't heard of these (outside of Hertz), so I'm naturally curious how they stack up to say some JBL or JL Audio or Infinity sets.
