Looking for advice: 3 way 6.5 speakers

Anything in that price range from JL is Chinesse crap. The C5 and ZRs are good. Infinity is decent, owned by Harmon now. JBL is ok but not on these level.
Really? I'm glad I came here then. I never heard of that website or those sets. And I've done my best to find sites that rate or rank car audio equipment but those are in short supply. And I am damned at finding a car audio enthusiast magazine that lets me know what people want.

Not sure how you know about these, but thanks for telling me. I will look at this and try to iron out which set I will get.

If you had to pick a pair out of the ones you sent me, which would you be inclined to pick and why? Based on checking into the different manufacturers and the user reviews I could find, I would probably go with the Image Dynamics.

What do you think about these? WoofersEtc.com - CXS64 V2 - Image Dynamics 6.5" 4 Ohm Component System

JL ZR, hertz hsk XL, dynaudio escotec, morel virtus, audison voce, focal k2, image dynamics xs-65 are some of the higher end good sounding speakers

next tier, you have the Alpine type X, image dynamics cxs64, JL C5, CDT ES series, PHD Fb pros,

Then you got the budget niche sets that might not work with everybody's ears.

So the ones I found (the image dynamics cxs64s) will probably be just right for someone like me, who isn't going all out and I am on a budget.

Since I am not trying to do anything outside of these speakers and the HU, what amp would serve my modest purposes if I got the Pioneer DEH80PRS and the ID CXS64s?

I was looking at this one: http://www.amazon.com/Pioneer-GMA3602-2-Channel-Bridgeable-Amplifier/dp/B00GN5K650

you spend all out on the speakers and you cheap out on the amp?

IF you ever plan on going active in the future, you'll need a 4 channel amp.

You'll need head room with the power also. As in having more power on tap then needed aka overpower them by a bit. Those image dynamics can take quite a bit of power to bring out the full midrange/midbass they can offer. whats your budget for the amp?

LOL...I don't want to cheap out. I guess it's because I am a tweener...I am not interested in factory stuff, but I am not enough of an enthusiast to go full gusto (forking thousands of dollars)

I guess I didn't have a budget for the amp. I was going to originally just get that HU and some JL 6X9s, but after talking to people I learned that I should focus on the front stage (new term to me). So that changed my buying expectations. But that changes my costs too.

So I am willing to spend a little more on some front speakers (that I wasn't going to even replace originally). But since cost is an issue, I don't want to cheap out, but I do want to get something that will do the job. But keep in mind, I am not going full gusto either so learning about what would accomodate my setup would be great. ESPECIALLY since I am a newbie who never had an amp before too.

These speakers are 3" deep. That's not going to fit your Civic unless you cut the panel to allow the woofer to stick out.

When I replied an hour ago, I spoke to a technical specialist at WoofersEtc.com to confirm if they'd fit. He said that for my car, I had space of 3.5 and that they should fit fine.

Do you think this is incorrect?

That's why I said those speakers won't fit. I guarantee the Woofers rep used Metra's vehicle fit guide, which incorrectly lists 3.5" for the front speaker depth. You have to have room for the window to roll down. You have 1.75" of clearance with the window rolled all the way down, and you do not want to disregard that and figure you can just live with a window that can't roll down. One trip to a drive-through window will change your mind right quick.

****.

1. I'm not sure of industry standard, but is it that my car isn't really accomodating to components, or do I just need to find a pair that fits?

2. If this Metra guide is wrong, where do I get the right information from?

There is no industry standard for car makers and speaker sizes and depths. It's just the way it is and we have to work around that. If only there was an expert who can research this for you and suggest speakers that fit your car...

You can't beat pulling a door panel and speaker and measuring the depth for yourself, but sometimes you can find this information online, verified with photos.

Well if it's not one thing then it's another. I guess I need to ask for the mounting depth of speakers that would fit my car so I can change my speakers choice
