SICK is all i have to say.. keep an eye out for it //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Pioneer 880PRS, the sound quality and functionality is excellent. You are taking a slight risk of getting a defective one though (alt whine, pre-outs not working). I have to send mine back but I'm determined to stay with this one because it sounds superb.

I am very happy with my CD7000, very nice HU. I like having buttons on the HU that allows me to not only attenuate the sound, but also pause the CD. I do not like going through menus just to do simple things like that. The shortcut button makes it very easy to use.

Understanding some of these units like mentioned above and others like the Mac unit and the Nakamichi units have some serious SQ..
How are you guys doing any time alignment with these older SQ units that don't have it built in? Assuming you are doing time alignment.
you dont have to have time allignment to have a steller sounstage....although it does make it easier...also there are external processors out there that can do it...

2nd'ed whitemax's post - the CD7000 is a great HU. 10 PEQ bands with adjustable Q - 5 per 'high' and 5 per 'mid' output, in pro mode (the only mode to use //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif)... 1 peq band for the sub is the only downside - though it's proved sufficient.

It's got fully adjustable time alignment built in that can be adjusted in 0.1ms increments for all 4 outputs in pro mode and allows volume adjustments to be made in 1db increments to -30db on each output, plus stereo sub outputs (though you can set it to send monaural on the nonfader/subwoofer output..) and on top of all of that you can set crossovers at 6/12/18/24db per octave at a nice wide variety of frequencies for woofer low-pass, midwoofer bandpass (both low and high pass) and tweet high pass..

The deck can save 5 pre-sets of any settings you configure for all of these settings (time alignment and per channel volume levels, PEQ settings and cross-over settings) allowing you to toggle between any configurations you've saved during the song and see how it changes instantly between various crossover settings, time alignment adjustments, peq settings and volume adjustments (including the subwoofer level, ladies...instant cut is easily done..).

I like that the shortcut function allows you to get right to a sub-menu you're actively tweaking at any time and you can set the shortcut key instantly to be any other menu option you want -- but if you hit the menu key normally, it still remembers the last options you selected the last time you manually used the menu rather than the shortcut key. As a result, it's very fast to toggle between 2 deeply nested sub menus -- one is just the shortcut key, and the other is the menu button, followed by . I like this deck.

Way easier to use than my old cd8454 (which was excellent) and worlds beyond my cd8051. The cd8454 gave up it's tonal adjustments in pro mode but the cd7000 still has broad sweeping eq's available right from the main enter key when playing music for 'low/mid/high' adjustment which can be nice to quickly lower the volume level of the sub without using a pre-set...and you can hit an 'alt' key at any time to make the massive volume nob control what is normally the 'arrow key left/right' control which makes it fast to lower the sub volume if you use the 'low' adjustment to do it. It's got the real time graphic EQ just like my old 8051 which i like though //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif Adjustable color patterns that change not only the graphics schemes on the full color screen but also adjust the buttons colors on the faceplate is fun to play around with too. My MP3 player has a blue screen so i based my config on how it looked next to it. I run the mp3 player in through the aux-in port and to my joy the cd7000 has an adjustable aux-in sensitivity level so i was able to adjust it so my strong mp3 player outputs would not clip even at full volume on the aux-in to the eclipse.

Edit: earlier someone recommended an 8445 or 8455 - i think they meant 8454 or 8455, as the 8445 has considerably less configuration ability than the 8454...the last number in the eclipse naming convention is the year, and the 3rd # represents the feature set level 8454 = 2004 model year '5' grade deck which is better than the 8445 which is the 2005 '4' grade deck. You want the 2004 or 2005 year '5' level deck - 8454 or 8455. Or just get a cd7000 //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif I found the cd7k to easily equal my 8v decks in perceived SQ, both the 8051 and my 8454.

Very nicely put //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif.
I need to get a 1500xxk to replace my punch 100...then we would be mirror setups.. except your car pwnz my shitbox. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif And i'm thinking about going with a ported 10' instead of my need-repairs 12w6..

link to this upcoming headunit? I haven't heard of it.

edit: My vote would be a drz9255....I would love to have one. My 8053 doesn't do bad for now though. If I couldn't get a drz9255 I would probably get a p9 combo.

Those are kind of hard to come by now. Still if you keep you eye out you'll come across one. What happened to your 12?
