there is nothing that compares at that price range and power handling.

IA 187s direct from IA. Same price, better power handling, easier enclosure options, better SQ, a better sub.

Don't talk until you've listened to both.

if the type R subs can handle more then their rms rating then what other subs can do that, a lot but none comparable to the Type R one in output wise

I've heard/owned a Type R and L7 and I'd say they are pretty comparable. I think the R has better low end. I'd also throw in the mix Pioneer tws3004spl, Not an audible difference I could tell between the R and the Pioneer in a similar box and the same power. It's really a toss up IMO........I'd rather have a Type X it sounds soooo much better than the others.........

P.S.....those have to be the 2 most disscused woofers on this site do a search.......

I love bringing up pushing one in a daily driver (With several full power burps) with an MTX 1501D at 1 ohm (~1800 watts RMS, 6 times rated power) with no ill effects at all. I sold my pair on this forum to pay for a pair of IA LIs, the second owner made a 14X dB system and put a few vids on ROE, then he sold them to get an IA DP and I don't know where they went after that.

But they are truly great subwoofers. A great many owners of IA 187s manages to sell them off to get better IA gear, for what that's worth.

just dont put 1500 watts to an 12" R for too long or it will over heat. Mine did.
