Looking for a sub comparable to type R.

if you have 1000watt rms to play with and want a step up from type r, you could go for an L7... just a thaught
yep,

L7 is a good sub too I've heard it powered by a Kicker 1250.1 which was giving it around 1100rms in a pretty big box, looked like 3-4 cubes and this thing was hella loud! Much louder then what a type R can get IMO, but the SQ just wasn't the same. Also the L7 is $100 more then the R.

i love my L7's and cant say enough good things about them, best subs for the price IMO, you simply cannot beat the output of an L7 with anything else in the same pricerange (without going crazy with some super 1 note wonder box/sub combo)

also i've listend extensivly to some w6v2's + type r's and neither compare to the L7 in SPL, although the W6's whooped its *** in SQ

the only REAL downside of L7's is the amount of power required to really make them shine... it took upgrading from a bx1500D to a 81000D before i was satisified with the output

Alpine subs are sql and L7's is spl, no comparison at all, just stick with Alpine then man if ya can't find one that is comparable.

L7's CAN sound very good when used in such an application, do a search for "L7 sq award" its already been stated many times //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/naughty.gif.94359f346c0f1259df8038d60b41863e.gif

L7's handle more power then the Alpines so they are not comparable dude.
what does power handling have anything to do with comparison? the op said he has 1000 watts to play with which is enough for an L7...

and just FYI, many, MANY people have stated their type r's can take well over 1000+ watts so yes, IMO they are compariable //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

then i believe my L7 can handle well over a 1000 then sicne it's rated at 750 rms //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

are you being sarcastic or serious? yes your L7 can handle well over 1000 watts... i had a single L7 on a modded 81000D pushing between 1200-1500 watts and it was asking for more //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/up2something.gif.dd110ecf3ae4b76050d87598f2f8de7c.gif

x2 i have 2 06 on a zx2500.1 and they take it like a champ

L7's are not comparable until u can find me one that sells for $100. L7 is a great sub, noone is knocking that. but some of us realize that there is no point to spend that kind of money on a set up if we aren't competing.
