Looking for a new set of subs. Since researching here i'm a little lost

Yea Fi BL also GREAT choice as I was running 4 18" BL's //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif I just seen you wanting more SQ so told you about the Q. Depends on what you want more...the BL gets nasty loud and still sounds good, and the Q sounds nasty good and still gets loud ha. Whatever you prefer.
Now thats the hard choice, it would depend on my mood.

So I guess the big question is will the Q get louder than my old w6v2's if I have the Q's set up properly?

I felt the W6's couldn't get as loud as I wanted. They sounded nice but wouldn't go as loud as I wanted, or as low. not nearly as low as I wanted. Maybe i'm more of a spl kinda guy that wants it to sound good, I see so many guys riding down my block beating out of control and it sounds like ***. I don't want that.

Well the Q's you could power probably up to about 1500 watts RMS each, where the W6's are what I think 600 or 800 RMS. I definitely think the Q's would be an improvement over the JLs. The BL's are also very nice though, like I said I had 4 of them. If you got BL's they could handle more power then the Q's. I had this debate with myself a few years ago and I decided I wanted more SPL, it's really up to you though, both great choices. O and I think there was someone who did a test and actually found the Q to be louder then the BL when running on 1000 watts so it kind of depends on how much power you go with.

well it looks like we have a fight here. Fi BL vs SSa Xcon's

I did a search here. found only 2 things. people complain that the Fi's are to popular on here. and the Xcons cost $100 more a sub. are the Xcons worth 200 more for a pair? or are the BL's a better deal?

Never heard xcons so can't say, but from my experience with the BL's I say them //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

amazign deal for the money you wont beat it, and they work perfectly together at .5 ohm give them 2000rms a piuece mmmmmm, anazing subs. monsters,

and if you notice the fs 32.283 is much lower then most spl subs as these are the more daily version, bobby32 has the competition versions of these.

So, i've decided to go with one of these two. SSA Icons or Fi Qs

after looking at my trunk, and thinking i'd like to have a decent amount of room left, I decided to mount some 12's where the 6x9's go and do a sealed enclosure under them I'm thinking 1-1.25 cubes. seal it off from the trunk and throw 1000 watts to them.

Maybe since they'll be in the rear deck 10's might be a better option easer install and will sound real good to.

Now to decide on what brand, which is difficult since I can't compare them, but from how it sounds I can't go wrong either way.

but 10's or 12's in the rear deck, any educated opinions?

wouldnt do that, you will have to structurally support your rear deck, you are better to face subs away as you hear low freq after they bounce and resonate, facing subs toward you is never a good idea imho, what i would do is face toward the rear and then port through the 6x9 holes and stick with 12's, the q's will sound a little better but the icons will get louder.

what makes you think the q's will sound better? No offense to the Q's but with shorting rings and an XBL^2 motor stucture, higher thermal power handling, I'd put money on the Xcon having lower distortion, especially as volume increases. Q's can be found for 200 used though which is a great price, Xcons are alot harder to find used and cost a bit much new, IMO.

Well i would say honestly if you want something fairly priced and sound good for you it would be a set of the Audioque HDC3's (size of sub up to you) on a Audioque 2200D does rated power. Put a battery finish the trunk, n that would be enough id imagine. Im looking at audioque myself just slightly bigger. .
This right here ^^

I have an audioque HDC318 D1 with a 1000rms fusion powerplant and Kenetik 2400 in a 7.5cuft box @40hz. Sound quality is very nice and definately has a good amount of SPL for your needs. See, I'm the same way you are when it comes to car audio. I love my SPL but don't wanna sacrifice SQ for it. Audioque is worth every penny and i expect you'd be happy with them. I'm working on getting 2 HDC312's now.
