Looking for a new circular saw...suggestions?

Well I'm lookin for a new circular saw. Want to stay under $100, or cheaper, and must be corded. Battery power just aint strong enough.. What do you guys suggest?

I picked up an Hitachi for $75 a while back at Lowe's during one of their clearances...works fine for general ripping work.

I don't know if I'd be comfortable with a quick-change blade on a circular saw. That and a router bit - those are two things I feel safer having securely tightened, even if it takes longer to use a wrench //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

You can sometimes find a Skill Worm Drive on sale for around 79 bucks.

Honestly, look at pawn shops. They are great places to buy tools.

I am a framer, and I've used just about every brand. I'm not impressed with bosch, but Milwaukee and the Older Skill or the new worm drives are great. Not a big fan of the cheap Skill that is black, they just feel cheap.

If you aren't going to use it day in and day out, you will be fine with a ryobi or black and decker, but if you want longevity and day in and day out use, stay away from the cheaper brands. And don't buy from sears.

is kind of a scary thought, but it should be pretty stout correct?

I'm like that porter cable.

And I'm in constrction management and I watch the mexicans do the work....but I'm just lookin to add a tool for my home use mainly

I build for a living and have tried a lot of saws in a lot of years. The best I've found so far is the Ridgid worm drive. I use one at work and bought one for home. The base is thick and solid, The blade cut indicators are dead on as is the measuring gauges marked on the base. And using an allen to change blades that fit into the handle is nice and easy.

Built in skyhook and ability to cut sharper than 45 degrees is nice also.

I like the worm drives. I'm liking the rigids...I've used them alot at school and like em for the price esp

Another thing I just remembered I like about it is the extra long cord. The cords on the skils and others hang up on the edge of plywood,mdf etc right at the end of the rip and mess your cut up some times.

Basically it's better in every aspect than any other saw I've used including the industry standard Skil 77.
