Looking for a little input.

I decided to build a new box this weekend for my 12's. I have 2 05 12" Type R's running about 350w each. The box I built to replace the prefab box I had is 5 cu. ft. total tuned to 32hz. The box design I was given has a shared chamber with the port being on one end of the box. The port opening is 5" throught. I used 3/4 mdf to build it and it came out great. The lower bass is awesome, but the upper bass notes distort all to hell. My main question is, is it the box or the amp? I had a Fosgate 400.4 bridged to these @ 2ohms in the prefab box and they sounded tons better. I am cornfused with this completely. Also the said watts above are rated watts so I am sure the amp is overrated and not making that much. I am mainly looking for some opinions on what others think the problem is. Amp or Box? ! more thing, this is all in a 95 Tahoe port/subs facing rear. Thanks for any opinions.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/naughty.gif.94359f346c0f1259df8038d60b41863e.gif

I should know better. I am looking for some advice, not some asshat comment. So far on this site I have learned 2 things. 1-there are few people that will give real world advice.2-there are way too many asshats that would rather talk shit to people than answer a single ****ing question. Maybe next time I will be a little more specific, ALL USELESS OPINIONS CAN STAY THE **** OUT!

don't take offense to pv audio i have learned he is just annoyed by what he thinks is stupid //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif don't really know him well just seems to be how he is //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif and theres no problem with that, if it pisses you off just let it role off your back man

So what you 2 ****tards are saying is a subwoofer is only capable of hitting really low notes? HMMMMMM seems a little odd that before changing amp and box it was fine all around. Nice advice idiots. The least Little Johnson could do is come up with something original.

hey hey hey. that kind of attitude here can get you banned brother, i might watch it if i was you. besides who the hell said that subs are only capable of hitting low notes? He was saying that if the box is tuned to a low freq thats what it will play. There is no need to get pissed at a person that may live 700 miles away from you, its a free country and just like in real life people here have the right to the 1st amendment and the freedom of speach. Sorry to hijack your thread with this crap, just trying to calm you down before someone gets their head bitten off.

Thank god, 2 reply's from people with some real input. On the distortion side, Say I am listening to MasterP, hits like crazy. Go to Blink 182 or the like and it sounds like hitting a tin can with a spoon. The "punchy" bass has all but dissapeared. As far as where it distorts hz wise, I am not sure. I have the filter on my crossover (3-way xover) set at 45hz and the amp set close to the same. May be my tuning? I don't know. Thanks for the reply.

its because your box is tuned at 32hz; thats starting to lean toward spl away from sq, so it's only gonna hit the low frequencies.

if you wanted to be able to hit those highs better you should have tuned your box around 28hz, maybe a lil lower

common tunning frequencies :

Sound Quality : 20 up to 28 Hz.

Sound Quality Loudness : 30 up to 35 Hz

Sound Pressure LeveL SPL : 40 up to 80 Hz (test tones are played rather than normal music, to avoid Low frequencies, which damages the speaker).

Its commonly used for competition propose. and not everyday driving.(unless you like listening to test tones for everyday driving).

I am tired of asking for help and getting rediculous answers. I am active on about 20 different sites of various subjects and this site has got to be the worst one I have seen for people just flaming for the sake of flaming. If you don't have something worthwhile to post, why bother? Now, if somebody that likes to give dumbass answers and then asks for, flame on. I have never flamed/degraded anybody here to deserve being flamed when asking for input on something. So far I have yet to see Lemans23/PVaudio actually help anybody without some shitty remark. It is always his way or no way. That is what pisses me off.

yeah it seems like he can be like that.......alot //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif if he pisses u off just report him to the mods or to admin by clicking the the triangle with the ! in it at the bottom left of his post.
