looking for a GPS system

one of my friends has a Mio 220, seems cool for the price, 3.5" touchscreen, etc.

any one have experience with others? im looking for one, something nice. getting a flip out or double din indash with navigation is out of the question, i dont want one in the mini cooper. im going to make a fiberglass pod on the headliner to house whatever GPS system i get.

other things i wanna know, updates, do you update these every year or whatever to update the maps/etc? how is this done?

people that own these type of units, please give me reviews and pros/cons of the one that you own, im trying to compare, and so far, i only have seen the Mio 220 in real life.

Ok, well I was interested in getting a GPS system because I get lost easily whenever I'm not in an area I "don't know." So I bought the Garmin C330 and have been very happy with it ever since. The only downside to this unit is it doesn't tell you to turn down a specific street. It shows it on the unit itself but whenever the voice comes on it'll say, "turn right." whenever better models say, "turn right on Lexington," or something. I would probably buy one that has that feature I think it's called text-to-speech I believe.

as far as updates they usually have an update every year but it's kind of a lot for the Garmin, I think mine was 60 dollars. Some models have a free update though(one use)

I have a portable that can make its on maps....great for off roading....I also have a portable GPS that has a 10gb hard drive to store music in....great to move from vehicle to vehicle...In my Tacoma I have a DIN size JVC 5000 which is very nice it has a built in hard drive for storing music......In my Focus ST I have a Pioneer AVIC Z1 it has the updated hard drive...updated maps and is a really nice piece.....I fnd GPS Navigation is a very handy feature.....
