Looking at options. Opinions very welcome

Hi, so I just bought myself a new 2011 stang, and definitely want to upgrade the audio system. So, I love funk type rock...like RHCP, some indie stuff, motown, rock(Zep TOOL, Godsmack...), some country, with a little dash of hip hop thrown in from time to time.

I am more interested in audio quality than loudness or overpowering bass. I want to hear it all, but not necessarily overpowering bass. I hope that makes sense. The other thing is, i would prefer a smaller box so I am limited to a 10 or 12 woofer.

So, i went to my local store and was very impressed by the Kicker L3 at 10" it was wicked good IMO. However, I am not a customer of "I need it now" so i am waiting.

I asked my friend to spec me out a system and this is what he came up with:

first off... get rid of the cap... waste of money

the pioneer hu is ok, but for a few more bucks, you can get a double din pioneer with a touchscreen, dvd, etc...

if your looking for an SQ set up, focal is an amazing brand... but quite pricey... mtx isnt something i would recommend for sq... it will sound better than the stock system... but still not the best for sq

once again, for the sub... a single 10 or 12 will work for your application... but again, i wouldnt go with mtx... their subs arent the greatest for an sq set up... someone else can chime in for an SQ sub... cuz i normally just build for SPL, and havent ran too many set ups for SQ, so dont want to give you any mis information on that.

as for your wires... knu concepts will save you some change, cuz they offer good prices on wiring.

metra makes good conversion kits... there have been certain ones that end up with a lil bit of a gap, but those are specific to certain vehicles. havent heard anything bad about their kit for the new stang

yea... if you can shell out the cash, they are definately worth it!... they have a 3 piece component set, that is the best sounding set i've ever heard... but get ready to put out over a grand for just components

What does everyone think of alpine amps? I was thinking about a 5 channel amp; the PDX-5 which is 75 x 4 RMS and 300 x1. I believe this would be about right. Peak is 100 RMS with the same 300 mono.

I was also looking at some Type R components for the doors. the Focal is also a possibility here as those 6.5 component were absolutely the clearest across the entire range I have ever heard and if i am willing to splurge in one area this would be it. As for the rear deck, some good 6x 8

also found the metra 99-5823CH to make my stuff look as factory as possible.

im still looking at head units. Honestly i could care less about DVD. I am still kind of favoring the Pioneer DEHP7200HD because of the HD radio as well as the sirius XM upgradeability later. I am open to suggestions though of units that do HD radio.

subwoofer wise, im unsold really on anything and the Kicker L3 has been the best out of anything that I have heard. Looking at a sealed box and not really a bass lover.

Focal or Rainbow for SQ comps. Not 100% sure but I think HATS are SQ orientated.

I would think FI Q's for SQ or you could always have one custom build by splaudio on here for exactly the size and specs you want.

In a stang, I'd forget about the 6x8's and put that money towards the comps. Get a good 2 channel and a mono amp or for a little more power possibly, a 5 channel and bridge the fronts. The PDX line is pretty good IMO.

if you looking for a sound quality sub, around a lower rms, sit around the 500-600 region. RE SE's are not bad for the price in SQ, sundown SA 12s are great balance, they dig the lows. SSA dcons, good for what your looking around.

Focal is a great brand, along with Hertz, they have really nice components, id only worry about the front component system, thats what your ear is primarily going to hear, the rears are just fillers, im assuming since its a 2011? must have decent rear speakers?,

amp wise, a 5 channel would be easiest i suppose.

if your going Focal or hertz however, your going to need a fairly high powered AB section of the 5 channel.

Thanks for the recommendations. I didnt think Kicker was all that great honestly. Just the best that I have heard so far.

Just an exhaust and short throw...

Its a Skar VVX 12 and 600 isnt hardly any power lol you can do that power with on amp no problem...
