Looking at new front stage

I was going to put this in my build log but some asshat closed it.

Anyway, the only thing I've done over the last year has been working on the tuning. As of a few days ago I got the midbass on point. I ended up having to boost a bit in the midrange. It's clean so it's all good, I think the MS-8 made big cuts there so I just put it back.

I got a big hole at 400hz due to I think the center console. The only way I can flatten it out is adding a wide band up top. Have it play 400 and up.

A few options, I'll keep the XL mid whatever I decide.

Options are- Audible Physics RAM 2($259) semi local with built sail panels by Steve Cook. A bit under a grand total. No tweeter. https://www.slaacoustics.com/products/ram-2-a-wideband-miniature-loudspeaker-pair?variant=17487537793

Hybrid L3SE ($529) with sails built by UAF. A bit over a grand total and way closer to local. No tweeter. Legatia L3SE Speaker Set - 12v Electronics

This is a crap shot. If it works it's golden. If it dont I'll have to add 2 more channels and tweeters.

Or take the safe road. DD AW3 and AT28 with 2 more channels with the DD D4 bridged on the midbass(240x2) Pillars by Steve Cook. About $1300 total but a sure bet it will work. And my OCD will be satisfied. I really want to compete next season with DD but I'll get over it.

To long didn't read. Sorry

So i think your biggest issue is actually your MS8. Particularly the fact that you have no phase control. No IIR or FIR filters. Look into the power of All pass filters and their ability to easily be integrated into minidsps .

The APL1 and DIRAC Live are two VERY amazing products that i think are the future of mobile audio. They do phase changing without amplitude change, they do T/A and EQ for you. All you need after one of them is the ability to control crossovers/slopes and possibly a 16 band for tonality.

They both do the same thing but in different ways. The first link will give you a 30 day free trial(no credit card or anything required) to test out the product. Basically you calibrate your mic, do 10 measurements around your head and it changes your input. I tested it with an aux to my 80prs. The software does a good job of explaining how it all works. Anyway. i DEFINITELY suggest you try that before you do any modifications. Both come in a mobile audio version. The Mini DDRC-24(Dirac) and the APL1

Otherwise i think you have two main options.

1. try a midbass array, if your doing rearfill at all. 400hz is a low enough freq and long enough in wavelength that if you do a measurement with all drivers playing(rears as well) and due to the nature of Interaural time difference. you may fill in that gap.

2. go 3 way front stage obviously which i have gained leaps and bounds in SQ from. If you choose to do this. I highly suggest making multiple enclosures both sealed and vented as well as trying different locations before you settle on just one. My mids are in my kicks and i am a very big fan of them there.

The ET25 and HT25 tweeters from hertz are very detailed in the cymbals but I always found them to be pretty fatiguing or generally unpleasant. I havent heard the ht 28s. If you go 3 way. Cross those tweets as high as possible without pulling your stage down. just my 2 cents on that

Take the time to read through all those links. Youll learn alot.

Thanks but I'm not trying to nuke it. Keep it simple stupid works.

And the MS-8 is staying. Stock HU.

Well in my opinion. If you dont hear it, dont worry about it. If your freaking out about rta results then your chasing ghosts. Freq that low are practically mono when summed.

Im telling you. Run the dirac live trial. Spend an hour or two and just EXPERIENCE it. Its like having 4,080 parametric eqs at your fingertips. It eqs your response to EXACTLY what your trying for.

I can completely live with it now. The dip isn't audible. But I want some of that wow factor of pillars.

I'm not going to swap the DSP since it's not doing anything wrong. And I need it's input EQ.

The trunk is going to get prettied up also. Nice show quality install
