actually it is 100% legal, this is no longer a bmw logo you cannot copyright a circle inside a circle with a cross through it

Yes, you can copyright that....

Heck, coca-cola copyrighted the shade of red that they use. If I were to make a copyright something with that exact shade of red in it, I could be sued for it...

thats kinda not the point. anyone can take an existing logo and modify it. not to mention to come in "this is what you all will be losing to" okay then give darkhart BMW's address so he can ship them the grand prize.

be original and make your own logo instead of taking one, adding some text and calling it yours.

m sorry i didnt mean for my sarcasm to hurt your ******, im not going to start a flame war about this.

However these has been much done to this ex-bmw logo, there is not a single color the same as the original design even the color scheme is no longer the same. Im sorry you do not like it but its no reason for you to get mad about my confidence, since when is confidence a crime?

haha! there's so much miss conception in this thread! IT'S HORRIBLE!!! mods should clean this thread up a little bit to take some of the flaming out of it. here's a few things i know for a fact from my experience as a graphic designer.

- basing your logo/design off of an exhisting companies logo or "trademarked" image is in fact against the law.. It does not matter how much you shange the image around you're basing your "concept" off of something pre existing. So please for all artists sakes.. be yourself and be original in your art.. even if you work hard on re designing a peice of art.. it still is not yours to trademark or to take credit for.

- Someone posted that using downloaded fonts are not allowed which is FALSE! If you're able to download the fonts off of a website. Someone allowed access to these files which was at one point given permission. There are a lot of legal sites where Font artist post there work and invite the public to use them. To some font art is an art form all on its own. SO aslong as you're not copying and pasting some already written font that is a logo. You're good to go.

And for those who are worried about posting there art and getting it ripped off.. Note to you new commers.. The moment you E-mail the file from your computer and then add it to a site such as photobucket.. it is automaticly copywritten by you. So do not be affraid to post work for the fear of getting ripped off.. if you followed those steps.. you're set.

The most ideal thing yous could do is water mark it with your name or a company name if you have on.

On a side note.. There's a lot of people that are starting to put out some pretty nice designs! So lets keep them coming for the OP to have a variety of ideas to pick from.. all the flaming in this thread is useless and makes nothing but headaches for the OP who simply wanted some help without all the drama.. As artist we should work together and make this more benifitial for the OP and stop the flaming..

Hopefully this small bit of knowledge will help some of yous out and stop some drama.. So now.. lets get back to the original purpose of this thread!

it doesn't mater if it's no longer a bmw logo or not.. bmw still has the logo trademarked and always will.. just because its no longer there logo doesn't mean they're going to remove there old logo from everything they did in the past? Either way it shouldn't matter.. anyone who is starting a buisiness is not going to want something that has already been used in the industry.. Just be original and let your artistic capabilities flow dude
