Ok i got the "used" component set Alpine Type R 6.5's anyhow one of the woofers is "locked up" like you can not move the cone by hand it is stuck. I can only imagine this is a bad thing. Can anyone tell me what is going on with it and if it can be fixed if not what would you guys reccomend doing could i just buy a set of 6." woofers and use the crossover and tweeters i got out of this bad deal. Or what else should i do? They guy wont answer my emails of anything else so i figure everytime you buy used you take a huge risk so this is just one of those times that i lost out! Gotta cut my losses and move on!

Any info is much appreciated!!

didnt it come with the keys to unlock it? J/k, its probaly the voice coil, its most likely blown.. when it blows the voice coil can unravel, or just make a hell of a mess in the voice coil gap (im guessing its a very small gap on that speaker) so that would explain why its locked.. try putting some current through it and see what happens, but im sad to say its probaly not going to do anything.. Contact who u got it from and let em know..

ok well i hooked just the woofers up to some power...(my head unit)... Just as suspected the one didnt work it only played very very muffled music with NO cone movement while the other one was pumping away sounding good! So should i just get the bad woofer repaired or what??

why dont u return it....... leave the guy hella bad feedback too if it was off ebay?

Well i am hoping he will refund but since he is an individual he probably wont although he did state they were in perfect working order. Taking into consideration he hasnt returned my emails i would say i basicly got screwed and i doubt a bad feedback will make him just freak out and give me a refund.... who knows maybe it will work out but anyhow i need a plan in case i get stuck with them. What would you guys do (keep it cost effective) A:) Buy a good set of 6.5" midbass woofers. B:) have mine reconed

Oh also the guy emailed me about them said that he wsa only using an "Alpine V12 amp pushing just 35 watts a channel" and it was working perfectly when he shipped it and asked if it could be any shipping accident???? I dont thinkit could...could it>??

eache piece was individually wrapped in bubble wrap and placed in one box.. each pieve had quite a bit of bubble wrap on it. and there were cardboard dividers for the 2 woofers.

your speaker is blown, thats all there is too it. At least thats what it soudns like. You dont even want to spend time repairing it. I recommend you jsut find anew set of 6.5's that are new or that you know are sealed in box. if you want, you can mayeb try and use the tweeters from your old speakers, but I dont reccommend it. Sorry man
