Location of LOC?

Is location of LOC important?

Is it better to put it as close to HU as possible, or it is not really important if it's somewhat further away?

An advantage of putting it behind the radio is that if you ever upgrade to a radio that has sufficient pre-outs, than the rca's are already there.
