LOC install question

Hey guys i have a 2004 acura tl and it has a stock sub in the rear. I just purchased my LOC and and i am just curious if i would be able to take out the stock sub and use those wires to connect to the LOC, rather than having to tap into the right and left side speaker wires. Thanks.

if it has a stock sub that probably means it has a stock amp for that sub somewhere, usually nearby. if you can find that you can get the sub signal b4 the stock amp and not need to use the loc at all, it would be better this way because you don't need to amplify the signal then bring it back down

yeah, i know where the stock amp is, however, i do not know how to get an RCA output to my after market amp which is going to be powering my after market subs. If you could help me with this that would be great!

you gonna need a high freq to low freq converter...(im not sure what its called i forgot)

its a little box with input left and right (stereo)

just tap it in to your speaker wires..in the back (trunk) youll see your speaker wires..

or hide it behind your headunit...pero itll be easier in the trunk, pretty close too if your amp is gonna be in your trunk

then the box (converter) should have and output (RCA)

thats it...

n00bs....gotta read!

Anyway way why do you want to use the sub wiring. Why not just tap into the regular speakers for a signal?Due to it being preamped and only a mono signal it would only be good for subs and even then you will probably get some kinda feed back.

heres the deal, if you are keeping the stock hu and the car has a stock sub/amp then the sub is probably getting a dedicated sub signal from the hu that is probably already crossedover. So... there is a good chance that using the rear channels wouldnt even work since they dont have the bass frequencies. For my truck that had a stock sub (i kept the stock hu) I tapped into the sub signal pre-stockamp, and soldered on a male rca plug that i bough cheap from radioshack works like a charm and avoids using speakerlevels or locs...

i just did an install with your exact situation in my car.. just unplug the speaker wire from the sub and hook up the loc to that.. and viola you got your rcas. you dont plan on keepin the sub correct?

thats how i did mine..works great.
