Gimmie Some Sugar Baby!!!
Ok, so I got an Alpine PDX 1000.1 powering two 12" Alpine Type R's. Now I've never had this happen before when tuning an amp. I've got the gain all the way down on the amp and the sub volume on my deck is only at 7 out of 15 and the subs are pounding like no other I've ever heard. Is this normal? Has anyone ever had this happen to them before? Does anyone happen to have a setup like mine who could give me some sort of reason for why this would be happening? I'm scared to try tuning the amp because I don't know what might happen to the subs.

Do you have a subwoofer output on your head unit? If so, check to make sure it isn't all the way up. If you don't have one, your bass setting may be too high.

Are the subs moving a ton? If not, than maybe you have a loud vehicle. If they are overexerting, you may have an issue somewhere.

what are your head unites pre-out voltage? if they are high- true 4v or 5v, the gains will be fairley low. if it dosent clip, i wouldnt sweat it too much. and yes, check your boost, normally there shouldnt be very much. that would also be a nother reason for that-bass on the hu cranked up and the boost on the amp cranked up.

Ya I do have 4v pre-outs but I've had the deck set up the same way for a long time now and I've tuned different amps and subs in the car before, but I've never had this happen.
