Little bit of help needed..

Hey guys I helped a buddy install a system today (my first install as well) and everything went great, but we realized that the amp doesn't shut off when the car is off. I've done some searching and it seems that either the REM is spliced with the wrong wire in the back of the HU, or the power wire is is touching the REM terminal on the amp? Could there be any other issues?

The REM was spliced with the only blue wire I saw and i figured it was right.

The power wire doesn't have a fork terminal or anything connecting it to the amp, its just the bare wire going into the terminal. My buddy didn't have the right size so we just went with it.

Any help is great. Thanks!

well no the car is at my buddys house and i wanted to try to figure it out so we can fix it tomorrow. he just disconnected the power wire from the amp so it doesnt kill his battery

have him check the voltage at the remote terminal with the car off... if the remote still has voltage, just splice it into the cars fusenox on either the stereo fuse or the acc fuse (both of which will cut voltage to the amp when the car shuts off)

If the issue is just that the wrong wire was spliced with the REM and we cant find the right one, would it be easiest to just run an in-line toggle switch in the power wire?

What do you mean you can't find the right one? Can't you simply trace the remote wire from the amp to wherever it is spliced in? Then just get a DMM and find a wire that is on when the vehicle is on and off when the vehicle is off.

even if you cant find the right one off the back of the HU (which is pretty simple, just hook up a DMM to each one, turn the car on and off, and poof)... you can always do as i suggested before... underneath the driver side dash is the most common place for the fuse box, and the fuse box cover will have a diagram on it, showing you which fuse controls what... just spice your line in with either the stereo fuse, or the acc fuse.

and you could just run an inline switch... but its not recommended... unless you have it running from a source that already cuts off with the car (some people run it this way, so they can turn their amps on and off on the fly)... but just running an inline switch off a constant power source is an easy way to kill the battery. VERY easy to forget to hit the switch one night... and the next morning is when you HAVE to be on time to something, and... guess what, cars dead! ... we only tell you ish from experience bro, lol

well I spliced it with the only blue wire i could find. I have a feeling that the previous owner just started yanking on stuff to get his wires out. We will make sure the power terminal isnt touching the REM and if that isnt the problem, an inline switch will probably be the way we will go.

thats what i did. my problem was in the ground some some how my player & amp stayed on so had one laying around and just put one on

yeah i mean it was my first install and it was about 100 degrees out haha but when it was all said and done, i was very proud of it. All the wires were hidden and looked real professional besides the amp issue
