Line Driver?

runnin 8awg power and ground. dual svc mtx 5500's wired to pull a 2ohm load from the class a/b mono hifonics bxi608 amp (which claim to be stable to 1ohm). subs meter out good with good voice coils, was not being ran hard when it blew...

the only explanation that I got is beyond my knowledge which is this audio control overdrive line driver. explanation is that with boosted rca voltage, I can turn the gain almost off on the amp, output down from the head unit, and therefore not be runnin the amp too hard even if the volume isn't cranked....

makes sense but was hoping to see if the info is accurate

I would never shop any place that said that.

it really is the equivalent of saying:

BENCHPRESS 300 POUNDS!

and expecting it to somehow be easy simply because YOU WROTE IT IN BIG LETTERS.

basically, the rca signal just tells the amp what to do. the gain control is there to allow basic volume adjustments, and to allow different equipment, with different output voltages, to work well. but the things that make the amp hot really aren't related to the input signal (the directions), but rather the output (performing the actual task).

I looked into line drivers before and i was told that there is only so much of a signal your amp can receive in the RCA cables, and if you increase it you can burn up your amp.

Now, I have a stock H/U and my amp receives the signal from the rear speakers(it uses an adapter to go from the rear speaker wires to RCA lines). I would think this would cause it to receive a lower signal, and if I put a line driver wouldn't that boost my signal and increase the clarity and possibly output?

Am i close to understanding this?
