Line driver good or bad idea?

Went down to my local car audio shop a couple days ago and got to talking about line drivers. The owner told me that the difference a line driver would make is night and day. I have tried to research them but can't find to much. I'd like to know how much of a difference a line driver would actually make, and to hear it from someone who isn't trying to sell me something. I have a pioneer avh-2300dvd deck (2v preamp) and a soundstream tx1.2000d. Any and all advice is much appreciated!

a line driver will make a big difference on alot of class a/b amps if your headunit is less that actual 4volts output.

now class D on the other hand as long as you have 2v that is fine. you dont want more than 5v to most class D amps, some will actually protect or die...
