Line Converter/Active X-Over Question (Please Help)

Ok...I have an Audiocontrol LC6 Line Output Converter and a Blaupunkt 3Way Active Crossover.

I have a stock 2004 Honda Accord H/U

Problem is that my LC6 has 6 channels out but the Blaupunkt has 4 channels in....

Blaupunkt x-over has a switch for 2-ch and 4-ch option

The x-over will be hooked up to my 5 Channel Amp

Just use 4 full range speaker channels (front and rear) to the line driver.

Hopefully your amp or crossover have a remote SW output level controller.

If the only remote level control is built into the line driver for the 3rd channel,

then bypass the 3-way crossover for that channel and go directly to the amp's

5th channel and use it's crossover.

thansk for your help

but I have a question.....

If I only use the 4 channels from the LC6 (into the 4 channels in from the x-over) then that means that I wont have the sub's line converted or x-overed, right?

another question...is it possible to hook up the LC6 to the rear speaker wires?

I dont know much about LOCs

No. Why would you? Either you use the amplifier that is built into the head unit to power the rear speakers (run straight from the HU to rear speakers, bypassing the LOC and X-over) or run the rear speaker out of the H/U into the LOC then amplified by the 5 channel amp to power the rear speakers.

Line level is a low voltage audio signal for sending between electrical components, like H/U to amplifiers, usuallly with RCA connections. Obviously, speakers need a higher voltage. A LOC just goes backwards and reduces the amplified speakers level down to line level for RCA type inputs. Otherwise the speaker level output of your factory H/U would distort the shit out of amplifiers input, which is looking for a low level input.

thanks for your reply

my final question is:

If I use the LC6 line output converter into the 4 channel Blaupunkt crossover, then I will not have my sub's line converted?

I understand that the x-over will accept the 4 channels from the LOC, but what happens with my sub?

I don't see why not.

I have the exact same vehicle and I hooked up the LOC through the rear speakers. Worked out fine for me and a lot more simple than taking out the whole front dash.

But i'm not an expert on how all the x-overs work so maybe advice from others would be more helpful. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

yeah...I was thinking about that

what LOC do you have?

what amps?

Yes, your subs are already line converted. You have a choice of how to do it. It sounds like your LOC also has a sub crossover built in. (does it have any sub controls?) So you can take the sub out from the LOC run direct to the sub channels on your amp or you can ignore the sub outs from the LOC and use the sub outs from the crossover oryour 5 channel amp may have the ability to create it's own sub channle by crossing over the main L/R inputs and routing the sub freqs to the sub amp channel.

Probably running the sub out from the LOC to the amp will be the most logical. The Blau x-over will then only process the main are rear L/R.

thanks alot man!

the LOC doesnt have a xover built in, but it does have a sub control. My amp has a xover though.

I guess thats the easiest way of doing it

I just dont want to take the dash apart ugh //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

I think I understand your question now. Yes, you can take an audio feed from the rear speakers to feed your LOC. Then use the line out from the LOC to feed the audio for the x-over and amp channels.
yes!!!!!

but....if I just take the rear speaker feed all of my speaker's signals will by converted without issues?

yes!!!!!

If you want to, yes you can do that. You would just split the lines to feed all your outputs/channels. You will lose the fading ability at the H/U. If you still want to be able to fade from front to rear with the H/U then you will need to tap the front speaker outputs from the H/U.

Also you will have to run new speakers lines from the amplifier to your front speakers, or figure out how to get speaker wires from the amplifier to the factory wires under the dash or door. So your still going to have to run wires up front.

Please power your front speakers off the amp.

Anyone who runs front speakers off the H/U amp should be donkey punched.
