went out to lake mary to do an install for tacosauce (paul). the original plan was to change out the door speakers with these hifonics coaxils (the blue lightup ones) and cut new holes in the doors and mount another set (2 speakers per door). also a change out of the amps.

everything went smoothly at first. managed to find where we could cut away at the inner panal and mount the speakers where the window or window motor wont touch it. a few things went wrong, such as something with his door lock went whacky near the lock and his door wouldnt open from the inside OR out...but i managed to get into the door from removing the panal near the top where it meets the window and finding the problem then fixing it. unfortunitly the amp (memphis 16-mc3004) he got to replace his old hifonics was DOA //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif so we used his old hifonics 2ch zues.

weird thing is the amp didnt like a 2ohm load on each side. im 99% sure its 2 ohm stable...but it didnt like a 2 ohm load on each channal (2 speakers per channal in paralell making a 2ohm load each channal)......so we ended up just running the amp to a set in the front, and useing deck power for the other set up front, and deck power for the back 6x9's. i also wired the LEDs for the blue cones to his window lock switch (the window locks didnt work, but the switch does lol). so now on his switches near the windows and locks, he can turn on and off the blue cones.

for coaxils off deck power and off a shitty amp, they actually sound pretty good. his pioneer HU (i forget which one, but a decent one, he might chime in with that info) made a world of differance in the SQ, without a decent deck it probly wouldnt have sounded nearly as good. 4 coaxils up front got decently loud and sounded amazing too. i was impressed by the hifonics coaxil's. not to mention they're sexy. we also had to cut away a little on the arm rest thingy on the door, but he was cool with it and for a slightly ghetto install, it came out looking **** decent. i only snapped 3 pics since it was dark and they only came out fair in the low light. but you get the idea.

amp in the trunk, its on the left hand side and looks sharp where it is, the pic sucked without it being a closeup so i only snapped close up of it

passenger door

all in all it was about a full day and another half day of work to get it all done. there was alot of problem diagnoiseing and fixing (lots of loose connections to tighten and background noise problems, plus battery problems another other electrical system glitches, DOA amps and such). but we took our time and got every done as best we could and it came out looking decent and sounding very nice.

by "we" i mean me and paul supervised //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif it was still fun though.

ya the pics dont say much, but it looks cool, and the car is an older buick grand marquis, and with the new blue paint job, it goes very well with the blue theme....

Buick doesn't make a Grand Maquis Jay, Mercury does.

It's a 680 Headunit.

The speakers look really cool. But unfortunately, yes, I do have bad luck. I really wanted to hear what they would sound like off the Memphis.. but now I got em stuck on a crappy Hifonics 2 channel amp. I'm sure one day i'll get some good luck =p. I'm gonna try and snap some better pics of it pretty soon, those pics are too blurry and stuff.
