The ohms has nothing to do with it, 1200 at 4 or 1 ohm is the same thing, if the efficiency rating is the same. Ditch the cap, and although it may be an expence, I believe that basically you can never go too big as far as wire goes.

sounds good....the lights only dim when i really turn it up...a lot....but i want to be able to without having to worry about the lights....

most(maybe all) amps are more efficient at high impedances. a 1 ohm load will draw more amperage and be a lot harder on your electrical than a 2 or 4 ohm load.

what size is your alternator? Upgrading to 1/0 isnt going to help you, thats just gonna make it easier for the amp to pull even more power, and may likely increase dimming.

Yup. What size of alternator are you running? Your alt could even be dying and you don't know it...

i don't know about my alternator....i think i am going to look into a high output one....maybe that will make a difference....

find an alt from a durango with the fire truck package at a junkyard, they are 160 amps, got mine for $50 shipped

go to http://www.car-part.com put in about an 01 Durango, and select your zip or priced lowest to highest, (of course closer will be cheaper shipping because its heavy), and 5.9 engine 160 amp. The guy I got mine from even put it on a machine to make sure it was good before he shipped it.

If you look on the model number sticker on top of the alt, if the number ends in 13, the stock alt is 130 amp. I have a 97 dakota with a 5.2l and a stock 130amp alt(which will be going bye bye soon). And redo the big 3 in 1/0 and ditch the cap before you do anything else and see if that helps first.
