i upgraded the big three.....and got an optima yellow top deep cycle under the hood.....a capasitor....why would my lights still be dimming....the place ran a 4 gauge wire...could that be it?.....would a 0 make a difference.....i have one MBQuart amp rated 1200w @1 ohm.....and 1 12" Cadence Daytona sub...it's pretty load but it shouldn't still be dimming my lights as bad as it does...//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

ditch the cap and take it back to whoever did the install. I was running ~1kw on music daily, stock elecrtical, ZERO voltage issues.

Edit: I see you have a 5.9L v8... I bet your alt's a lot bigger than the one on my I6 as well.

have them rewire it to 0 gauge or do it yourself, 1200w going length of the car and running at 1 ohm, i bet 0ga would help a lot. And also do the big 3 and make sure the amp ground is good. Ditch the cap see if it makes a difference also.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

#1. the 0 gauge from batt to amp will not help dimming

There is no need to go to 0 gauge with 1200wrms. Waste of money, really. Just redo all the connections. I blame a ground somewhere.

Edit: A 2nd 4 gauge ground would be sufficient. Can't forget about the stock electrical needs //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

4 gauge wire is just fine for 1200w. If I were you, I'd check your amplifier's ground, and make sure it is going into solid, shiny metal. Don't just use a factory bolt or something; use a self-tapping screw and a washer to go straight into metal.

On your big 3, what size wire did you use?

ill check the amp ground....the 4 gauge on the big three.....i was told not to go to big.....//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

I thought we were talking about the big-3. Silly me.

There's no such thing as too big. 4 gauge is sufficient for the big 3 in your application though. I'd do a double 4 gauge ground (battery to chassis)

1/0 is the way to go on the big 3. whoever told you not to go too big was quite mistaken. the bigger, the better.
