Ok, this post to help you guys decide on which TV NOT to buy. If anyone else has contradictory feelings, feel free to post. This is my OPINION and my OPINION only but i will back up my feelings will facts.

Well just about 11 months ago, i bought a new tv. Mitsubishi 1080p DLP 57732. Anyways, the picture is awesome, tv is awesome, plenty of great features and all the extras like media card slots so you can plug your camera memory stick right into the tv and show the pics on screen. Well in October, i blew the first bulb...i talked to some folks and turns out the airflow was restricted by dust causing the bulb to blow...egg on my face right? I sucked it up, bought a new bulb...Mitsu..wants 260 bucks....but mine was under warrenty. So i install said bulb and it always smelled like something is burning inside ... slight smell. So today, after the TV was turned off all day, my son presses power and "POP" no picture. I take everything apart and voila, bulb popped. I look around and find the bulb from a electronics place in indiana for $120.

So after only about 300 hours of play on the bulb, i decide to do some research. I run across a site where people are organizing a class action suit against Mits for all kinds of problems with the DLP sets. They are citing experienced TV repairpeople as saying that they have a serious design flaw with the ventilation for the bulbs and Mitsubishi themselves have even admitted to at least 10 incidents where the tv actually caught fire and 2 reports where the back of the tv actually exploded. I am personally in contact now with the law firm who is organizing the suit. They have documented experience with successful suits against Panasonic and toshiba in similar cases.

I love the TV...its absolutely amazing, when it works. But with the inherent risk of fire hazard and just the cost factor to replace parts alone, i can no longer endorse Mitsubishi DLP TV's. I am going to purchase a new Samsung LED DLP 1080p set very soon. I'm going to proceed with the bulb replacement and then try to sell the TV locally. With that being said, make your own mind up, but for me its buyer beware on Mitsubishi's

i got a mitsu 36 like 4 yrs ago when sun or somethin went out its stillgreat except the **** coax cable input pulled out one day, my recone glue and accelerator worked wonders tho.....

Thanks for the heads up.

I hate to hear it, Mits has been a leader in the BIG TV game for as long as I can remember there being big TV's.

What is the deal these days with the current TV brands? Half of the TVs I see are what looks like off brands.

this is mainly on the DLP's ..... most people know that a traditional DLP generates lots of heat from the bulb and there ios an inherent design flaw on the ventilation of those bulbs

yeah brands like Olevia, Acer and some others i can't think of....not sure who makes them

I'm asuming you've asked them to give you a refund.
i've been in contact with the customer service group and also tech support...tech support suggested to me to unplug the tv and plug it back in after i told them that i physically checked the bulb and it was nearly exploded. Customer service said call wherever i bought it and see if they would allow a trade in of some sort. ABC warehouse laughed at me.

Also, my 4 year warranty is not worth the paper its written on. I physically have to take the TV to an authorized service center...200 miles away for me...and if they find any dust or anything inside the set, its not covered under warranty. Also, they tell you to clean the fan off on occasion but the way to do that is you have to take the whole rear panel off. If they see any evidence that you took the back panel off....warranty is void...so its nearly impossible to get them to cover anything under the warranty

Hence the class action.

Just add your name to the list and play the waiting game...

Walmart/Sams club sells (and I'm assuming they manufacture) vizio's.
Walmart brands are not manufactered by walmart...they are simply a retailer. They use contract manufacturing to produce goods with there name...sometimes on the same production line as the name brands
