learned to drive with two feet...

Stick > Auto all day and anyday. I honestly don't understand how people can be given a drivers license without being able to drive a stick, but sadly thats not the way society is going, they would rather hold their cell and a soda than operate a motor vehicle. I looked for over 3 months for my truck with a stick but sadly I couldn't find anything within 500 miles that was not beat and had a manual so I am stuck with an auto. More power to you for being able to actually Operate the machines we are use for transportation instead of just holding a wheel and "driving."

Oh and as stated before country life FTW, I think I learned stick around 7 or so in a Suzuki Samurai. Started driving my dads 10-wheel dump truck at 14 (when I learned clutchless shifting.) First truck at age 16 was a stick, and I have been stuck with auto's ever since //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

For your next vehicle get a stick so others can't drive your car lol.

Oh and for true two feet driving, it is not all that hard but practice braking with your left foot instead of your right, then you will be the zen master of driving lol. Yea I know its not really all that amazing or useful. My first truck had carb issues and would run rich at idle, so when coming to a stop I would have to kick it out of gear (without the clutch) brake with my left while keeping it at high idle with my right. First few times you try it you will most likely be too hard on the brake but after a few stops you will get it down so you can jump on the brake fast with your left foot but have a good controlled even application of the brakes the same as you would when jumping on them with your right.

When I first read the title of this thread I thought you meant you turned into those fegs that brake with their left foot and accelerate with their right.. wtf lol.

Yeah I've only driven a stick a few times, it wasn't too pretty. Couldn't get the timing perfect.

Automatic > Manual

I know how to drive stick but I'd rather drive an automatic. With an automatic shifting is one less thing I have to worry about, especially in traffic. Plus it's easier for my girl to give me head while driving down the road with an automatic.

the first time i got to learn how to drive stick was a year ago. I'm 6'6" 250lbs and i got to learn to drive stick in a small *** Nissan Sentra 1.8 v4. You wanna talk about uncomfortable then there you have it. I myself prefer stick over auto, but not in town. Especially on i big *** hill with a stick that sucks. I drove my girlfriends mom's GTO and that shit was fun. I wish my truck was a stick, i basically treat it like a stick though since i can go through all the gears accept OD which sucks...

first car i ever drove was a stick. picked it up relatively quick. i stalled it twice, then didn't have any problems. in the 7 years i've been driving, every car i've had was a stick, and i've probably stalled less than 5 times.

learned on a 93 duster with the 3.0. first car was a mazda 626 turbo. next car was my 79 beetle 4 speed. then a 87 nissan 300zx 5spd. best thing about driving a stick was if you're dd, sometimes you get to drive some pretty fun cars because nobody else can drive a stick. i got to drive a bmw z4, m3, an svt cobra, an audi TT and a porsche that way.

and for the person that said they smoke, it's not a big deal. maybe i'm just a really good multitasker, but i've never had any problems. there've been times on my way to work which was an hour drive, and i'd be smoking on the phone and sometimes trying to squeeze in a quick dinner all at the same time while driving stick.

well yesterday i was finally taught how to drive a stick...im 21 years old and in college...and had only tried once before...

the car i learned on was a volkswagon jetta TDI i believe, its diesel and seemed to be an easy car to learn on....after like 10 minutes in a parking lot i drove like 10 miles to the mall and only stalled it once in the mall parking lot....

seems kinda stupid and im sure people will have negative things to say but i really enjoyed it, it makes driving seem like more fun versus being a task....this will also effect the choice i car i purchase coming up in september....

anyone else learn recently or not know how to and looking to learn?
Congrats man, I just learned in November...most people dont know how to drive one period.

anyone else learn recently or not know how to and looking to learn?

what if i grind the gears? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif
As long as you keep the clutch in all the way until you have the stick in what gear you want you'll be fine. Take your time when you do it except try to get realeasing the clutch down right away so you don't burn it up
