Lcd vs plasma.. What one to buy and why??

Let me say this from a gamer perspective:
Ive owned one of the highest end LCDs available now, the Samsung 55 B8000 series (the top 8500 has local dimming). When playing Ps3 I HAD to use Game Mode, which turns off all that special motion contol technology you pay all that extra money for. Even then I still had other issues. Which is why I returned TWO 55 8000's then exchanged for a Panasonic Plasma. Everything now looks amazing. NO issues what so ever.

EDIT: Forgot to say that when I use anything other than Game Mode on the Sam. LCD, I would get horrible input lag. So bad that you literally had to wait for the TV to respond to controller inputs...

Half the stuff you mentioned should never happen.. Or at least as bad, .. I have a 52A750, and 55B7100, I have seen the 8000 and 8500 ( which is pretty nice ) And I STILL like the overall A750 best.. Nor have I had any lag with any of them... The 7100 and up have a little better contrast and black levels , and no flashlighting which is nice but NOWHERE near what you pay for them.. Did you look at the sammy PN58B650 and 850 before you got the panny, or where u just pissed at samsung by that point? lol Cuz the 650 and 850 are awesome plasmas, and their PQ is amazing.. Blows away any lcd/led ive seen so far

BUT, I did see on the net that the BNIB sammy 55B8000s were going for $1800 SHIPPED , brand new ... I thought it was a misprint but nope.. Its the real deal.. Anyone looking for a top of the line , probably the best set you can get for under $2000, you MUST take advantage of this .. that price is unreal

I saw a 1080p Mitsubishi 80" for $2800 shipped I'm pretty sure. I think I may just save for that sumbish.
yea well you get what you pay for.. Ever wonder why 46" sets cost that much?? If you dont care about PQ , and all you want is size, go ahead.. But the processor in that set is nowhere near good enough to produce a reference PQ, AT ALL.. the panel is gonna be junk, and Ill be surprised if the backlight lasts 5 years

Yea, this is true as well. I guess the "wow" factor is a motivator as well.
Guaranteed dude a set thats gonna have a PQ like a hi end sony or samsung, thats THAT big is gonna cost upwards of $6000 easily .. The size IS cool, but whats that matter if the whole set sucks.. Thats why most large screen DLPs have piss poor processing, because they use there money in screen size, NOT quality parts and prrocessing

Yeah, I think that it's actually a clever idea on their part, because a lot of people would go to a bigger size for the same amount of money rather than go for quality.

you must be inhuman, because there are medical facts that say the human eye can barely see 60 fps, none the less 120... The only thing a 240 hz set will do is interpolate a fake image that tricks the eye.. That is NOT what you would call great pan & scan.. Plasmas dont need high refresh rates due to the incredibly fast response times of .00001 ms or whatever it is.. THATS what makes the plasmas look better IMO for panning and motion judder and blur..

To each his own I guess, it seems like your buying into the 240 hz refresh rates just like the companies want you to.. IN 5 years are you gonna think the 960 hz LCDs are all that too?? there is just a point, when you have to realize a bigger # is not always better.. Ill take an ultra fast 60 hz plasma over a false imaged lcd anyday of the week
I don't know why, but you seem to just be completely ignoring what I say. The 240hz TV's interpolate images because it usually yields a better motion effect than simply refreshing the same frame, however on many, you can change the effect to your preference. I guess not on all.

But I said Stereoscopic technology. TRY, I dare you, just try to use LCD shutter's with a 60 Hz refresh rate. the only thing it'll do is give you the worst migraine you've ever had in your life. At 120hz there is still noticeable flicker but at 240hz there is little difference than a regular 2D HD source. The pixel response times of PDP vs. LCD's are irrelevant, or rather incomparable. Phosphor related technology is just simply different.

Plasma all day long. I had somone actually try to jump into my tv it looked so real, true story

Too many pages in this thread to read but I can only speculate that it's filled with a bunch of b.s from people who either don't know what their talking about or hold a strong biased towards one or the other. Hope yuo enjoy your new set!

Yes, this stuff DOES happen. Its just some people dont realize it or care enough.

Like I said I had Samsungs 2nd to the top LCD offerings from 2007 and 2009. With anything other than GAME mode, I had input lag and motion problems. You can say "this TV looks nice" all you want, but until you get it in your home, under realistic lighting conditions, you wont be able to see its true colors...

Oh, and TV manufactures ratings are about as accurate as car audio products' ratings, you guys should have learned that by now...

umm. So you think ppl with half a brain listen to manufacturers reviews on their own sets over an quality reputable 3rd party reviewer

Sadly yes, they see 5,000,000:1 then see a plasma with 2,000,000:1 and say WOW that LCD is so much better. Happens WAY more than you think buddy.

Yea. people buy into cables and filters for fuck's sake. You think they wouldn't believe what the manufacturer says?
