i finally bought my amp and my sub. Its a alpine type r 12" dvc4 powered by a alpine m500 with 500w rms @ 2 ohms. I am goign to be using moe lester's 2.15 cu @ 32hz box plan. The amp and sub are being shipped here right now so I'd like to get my box done as soon as possible. Im planning to buy some of my parts of parts express so I'll just get the mdf from home depot and start cutting the wood while the parts from parts express are being shipped. Does anyone know any other good places I can find any of this stuff? Any critique or suggestion is welcomed. I plan to buy:

36" Speaker Sealing Caulk

Will it be enough for a 12" sub?

Screws

speaker terminal

black vinyl laminate

black bar grill

shipping comes out to 9.89 with a total of 37.15 for everything including shipping. I already have wood glue and silicone along with a jigsaw to cut the sub hole and a table saw to cut the wood up into pieces. what else do i need? let me know what you guys think!

i would get the screws and wood and chaulk stuff at homedepot.. save some money cuz of shippin.. then get the terminal cup and bar grill at partexpress cuz i dont know where to get those stuff maybe at a car audio storE?

ok so ill skip out on the speaker caulk and just use silicone i guess...or should i get something at home depot to seal it? whats so bad about the terminal i chose? the thing is, mainly i want the grill and i was thinking might as well get everything else there because shipping for just the grill is the same as having all that stuff and the terminal is dirt cheap. i think the weight limit is something like 10 lbs in order to keep shipping at 9.89.

i might look into just getting the screws while im at home depot, then i can actually build the box right there and then, so thats a good idea... uhmmm anything else im missing?

i thought silicone fumes were bad for speaker surrounds?

are 2" #6 drywall screws too long for building a box? i read from another post to use 1 1/2 or 1 1/4... im asking because my dad has some in the garage but nothing shorter really... and im going to home depot tonight and cutting up into pieces tomora.. hopefully start to build it tomora too...

this is with 3/4" mdf thanks guys.

need some input before i go to home depot plz!

You really don't need that big of screws, just put some effort into the build and buy the right supplies... shouldn't cost you more than $5 and a little bit of your time, and yes 1 1/4" or 1 1/2" inch will do well.

If it isn't cured //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

I wouldn't get any of that except for the grill if you really want it. Get a binding post type terminal instead, and use foam-rubber tape from home depot to seal if you want.

I use 1 5/8" since they are cheap and effective. No other reason.

Get rope caulk from the weatherstripping section in Home Depot... seals well, doesn't semi-glue your driver onto your box and is easy to use.

uhhh hopefully i got the right stuff lol... it says roppe cove base adhesive. fortified acrylic. i bought it cuz nobody knew what "rope caulk" was and it was only 25 cents... it says its for installation of roppe rubber and vinyl cove base to plaster, drywall, plywood, etc. Do not apply over vinyl wall covering.

so yea, should i use this?
