power feeding will shorten its life by alot and can lead to alot of health problems, retic's usually get bigger faster. and this is the fault of the owner not the snake i have many reptiles and i plan on buying an anaconda from an expo in PA in august and i doubt it will ever get out

I know what power feeding does, but that doesn't mean a lot of people don't do it. I know for a fact a burm can get 10ft in a year, and ~15' in two if you power feed it. I have had hundreds of reptiles, and bred them also. I've never actually had a retic though. My buddy has a green anaconda, and that thing has grown like 2 feet in two years.

Most people don't know that if a snake can fit it's head through a hole, it can fit it's entire body through that hole. They are escape artists.

As for those who say they should never have snakes in a home with a baby, that is ignorance. I'll be willing to bet dogs kill more babies every year than snakes do.

...and im sure youre 100% correct about dogs killing more babies than snakes..but thats like the worst point ever. How many more people have dogs in comparison to a large reptile..i mean really.

you can have large snakes its just the owners responsibility to keep its enclosure secure and out of reach of a young child

WOW! I think if you spell, and write the way you do your "ignint" accusations are revoked. It's ok, I'm sure you have probably never had a reptile because you think they are satanic or something and probably justify killing them because of this belief as well.

I think its dumb as hell to keep a snake for a pet. You going to play fetch with it? Take it for a walk? Hell, even cats are better than dam snakes.

If a large snake is in a proper enclosure with locking DOORS, there is no reason not to keep them even if you have kids. Aquariums are not an adequate enclosure for a large snake. The people saying it's stupid to have a large snake if you have small children obviously aren't educated on large snakes and have never kept them.
