Need to find out if it's the screen itself or the inverter. Inverters are only $60-$70, a screen will run you $150+. Get the model number and I will get you some actual prices on the parts.

Yep. Grab the laptop model # and get the replacement part number from HP's site. Then check ebay. Someone brought a newer hp to me a year or so ago and they wanted like 700 for a screen.

If the screen just isnt lighting up, its an easy fix. You just swap out the inverter. If the screen is cracked....then well you're clearly going to have to get another.

Also, this could be something else. Does the fan stay on high longer than it should or anything? I've fixed some things like this by reseating the RAM.. worth a shot.

alright cool..im gonna ask her when she gets out of work..but the screen isnt cracked so im hoping its just an inverter
