laptop help

I broke my headphones jack on my laptop. I had it plugged into my stereo, and yea I sat on it. Is there another port I can use to get audio out. I have 4 usb's, and some more ports i dont know what the shit they are. Also I have a mic jack, could I reconfigure this? Any help?

yes, comp usa sells an USB adaptor ...Turtle Beach, I believe is the name... works good, use one myself... lemme guess, it is a dell?

I got the top kinda off, looks like I broke it kinda off the circuit board. Im not gonna tak this thing that far apart to get further into it

I tried taking mine apart too... it is proprietary/not surface mounted,,, couldnt replace. USB adaptor costs about $30.00 and has a program that will allow you to better control the sound output and EQ / environament settings. I will try to find the link 4 you.

I see the second one has an external volume control and some other stuff

With its built-in microphone, digital audio output, built-in amplifier for stereo headphones and headset support for Internet phone applications,

the first one is like what I have and the volume is controlled through the p/c-- guess it depends on what you ultimately need... my headphones have a vol control so that would be a waste for me... is it worth the extra money to you for the additional goodies? (it looks like it just has a microphone, not an actual mic input... but you r p/c should already have one of those jacks on-board)

p.s... good job finding that stuff so quickly,... wish more people took the time to search first.

yea thanks for the help dude. I just wanted to know if something existed before wading througn all the junk on the internet. I think Ill get the $30 one this friday. Hopefully circuit city has it, me and credit cars aernt getting along so well at this time. Thanks again

Hey man I have a DELL Inspiron 9300 and the same shit happened to me. So after finding out how much it would cost to send it back to dell to get fixed, was open for a cheaper better alternative. I bought a pair of Logitech Portable speakers and they sound awesome. and they use my USB port to power them. Definitely a good idea, I saved $150 and got a better sounding speakers for a great price!!
