Lanzar OPTI500x2 good amp?

Is this a good amp? whats the actual output? i take it its not bridgeable at 2ohms

looking for a high power bridgeable A/B less then $400

If that's what it is then it's:

250 x 2 @ 4 ohms,

500 x 2 @ 2 ohms,

1000 x 1 @ 4 ohms.

Will handle 2 ohms mono, but no benefit.

They're not as over rated on power as everyone thinks. They do about 10% more power then rated. Solid built tanks is what they are.

I have an Opti150 just because.

Thats it! thanks! looks like this will be my new amp. my Rockford t5002 took a dump today //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif i did torture it for 3 years, not bad fora referb. oh well it was either get another t5002 for $200 or a t8002 for $375 or this lanzar for $250.. hope i made the right choice! 1300w is perfect for my 2 idq12s on the way.

another question the t5002 still puts out to the subs its just totally distorted sounds horrible. ive never had a amp do that they either stop working all together or not any ideas?

would it be better to get dual 2ohm IDQ12s and run 750x2 @ 2ohms each or get dual 4 ohms and run it bridged at 4 ohms?

You'd want dual 4's either way.

I would bridge it.

BTW - we want guts pics and an honest review (well, I do anyway).

I think it was 96-97, but the Opti's came from Zed until '03 although they claim to have quit building them around '00.

Nothing wrong with the Opti line from Lanzar. Very good amps for sure.

and whats PWM? Pulse-Width-Modulated the 600x2 lists that as a feature but not the 500

PWM is a bit more advanced power supply than a standard switch mode.

The use of PWM is probably due to the fact that a the HC amp will require more current than a non HC a/b, and definitely less than a class D.

I wouldn't say it makes it a better amp, but it does make it more expensive.
