last night i was listening to my system no louder than usuall and i smelled smoke. i didnt really think nething of it thinkin the smell was outside the car. the sub made a poopy sound so i shut it off. i tured it back on about a min later and it sounded fine. i got home and took it out of the box, smoke went everywhere. now this is a 15" l7 only being powered by a kx600.1 so i dont think i blew it. what else could it be? inside the whole in the back was very warm tho.

Trying to to get 1000 watts out of that 600? Clipping the signal to hell and beyond, heating the VC up to a thermal breakdown limit. That's my .02

Test the coils with a DMM to see if they are blown.
