L7 or 13w3v3

//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif w3 and w3v2 have nothing in common with the w3v3. w3v3 should really be a w4. Seeing as how they scrapped any ideas and started fresh
also agreed, but the W3v3 is still a more powerful sub than the W6V1!!!

For a burp, in a single tune box, I'm sure you could put 3kw on a 12" l7
ok i'll give you that as long as you realize its just a theory.

you are saying you could feed 3k to a sub rated at 750 for a burp in a tuned box.

i'm saying that a sub which is a lesser version of the W3v3 rated at only 400 watts (almost half of that of the new L7) already proved itself with 2k...

i'm saying given the fact that the new Speakers have both a stronger motor and are far better optimized the 13w3v3 would put up a very good fight.

sh!t even if it only stood 2.5k i wouldn't exactly call that a crushing defeat

Just as an example, use my current driver
Phoenix gold rsd 10

rated at 350wrms.

how much thermally will it handle?
Besides looking at the specs i can't tell you that without knowing the specs material composition and alot of math. And i don't know what time frame they use to determine thermal rating

Thermal power ratings are based on time, and thats another thing... JL rates thermal handling based on a ridiculously long period of time (not sure exactly but its like 12 hours)

now you are trying to go to the technical side and not answer my question. I am feeding a 350rms driver 625rms daily and ran them for 7+ hours on a trip to fla. on arrival they were not even warm to the touch:fyi:

I do not believe YOU can judge even the L7's power handling. And telling people that have fed one 1000+ that they are full of it is ridiculous.

No it's not more powerful and it's not called a w6v1, just w6. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif

I'd take the older w6 over the w3v3 anyday. I want to buy an 18w6, and put it in my room.

That would be most awesome!

Let me say this again

THE W3/ W3v2 DRIVERS HAVE NOTHING IN COMMON WITH THE W3v3!!!!

ok i'll get technical,

1. i don't see what your driver has to do with an L7

2. i agreed you could maybe see 3k on an L7...

3. Thermal ratings are really hard to go by...

they can range from 2-100 hour tests and are usually done using pink noise (probably in the range of 30-300hz) which are far more stressfull than your everyday music playing "continuously for 7+ hours on a trip to Fla."

4. i didn't say that you can't feed them 1000+ daily, the one guy i questioned was saying he was feeding them 1200 daily which he did in effect admit was not true.

That doesn't mean no one can, i was just saying he wasn't. Yes IMO The L7's SQ declines after 1000, but that IS install dependant. you might have more luck than others.

5.I do not believe YOU can judge even the W3's power handling. And telling people that have fed one 900+ that they are full of it is ridiculous.[/

actually they do they are both W3's! ftw

and if i don't be specific the numbnut idiots on here nowadays would think i was saying the w3v3is stronger than the w6v2s

anyway i wasn't saying they they have anything in common... i was saying:

THE W3V3 IS STRONGER THAN THE W3V2 AND V1

the w3 can handle way more than 600 watts and at 1000 watts the L7 starts to sound more like a wet fart.
ring any bells? not true

1. you brought up different drivers, not me.

2. show me a w3 that could handle 3k....you did say a w3 has close power handling and output.

3. that example was such that you could see power ratings are just that...hard to go by.

5. even if you did feed 900+ to a w3 which I did not say you couldn't, it will NOT match the L7 in output.

this is actually a good response, well better than most, I'm sick of people just telling people they are wrong because others do, its just a bandwagon... only disagreement i have is the power handling of the 13w3... i had one sitting comfortably between 800-900 in a little under 3 cubes.
the thermal power rating of the 13w3 is 600rms, over that and the woofer isn't covered by warranty, however if your system has little enough distortion and you can achieve the power mechanically (depending on install) they can achieve much more power than rated. (just like alot of high-end subs)
me and you are always wrong, even if were right. That's just how it is around here unfortunately.

Ok ?

2. show me a w3 that could handle 3k....you did say a w3 has close power handling and output.
First, show me a L7 that can handle 3k!

second, I showed you a weaker W3 that took 2K

Third, you are fighting a losing battle because i don't have the time, money, space or need to waste boxes and speakers trying to answer a stupid *** question to which the answer is plain to see, for the soul purpose of denying you the need to use your head.

5. even if you did feed 900+ to a w3 which I did not say you couldn't, it will NOT match the L7 in output.
congrats, again not the issue, just proving the point that the ratings are just as under-rated for the W3's

I also said you could feed the L7 1000+ for a daily setup but above 1000 the SQ is extremely install dependant compared to running it at 750-850... (my wet fart analogy.

wrong.....GTFO
