ok i said nothing about them being the same or similar i did say:For a JL Fan you know nothing about JL, They released the w3 driver, and later made it better in the second version w3v2. Then when they decided to the the 3rd w3, they scrapped everything. And started completly over, but kept it a w3 model due to relatively similar power handling, and frankly they didn't want to bestow a new W-model. W3 and W3v2 are similair, but the w3v3 has nothing, absolutely nothing to do with the original W3 driver or it's brother w3v2. Period.
"THE W3v3 IS A STRONGER WOOFER THAN BOTH THE V2 AND V1"
I'm saying that the W6v2 doesn't perform as well beyond it's specifications as the w3 does.Explain to me exactly what the hell you just tried to say.
i believe the sub in question, the only sub i compared was the 12" Kicker L7I'll build a box for a 15" Kicker L7, with 2,100 RMS on it. Just for you Cotjones
This sounds very fishy to me... you called JL for this? and a guy who "didn't know much" and had probably nothing at all to do with it told you exactly how it was setup?Okay, first of all I called JL Audio and spoke to Rodney, he didn't know much but I was told they box was a single tone hitter and they invested A LOT of $$$ finding the right car and the right Box in order to ever achieve this. In a daily setup with five 15" W3's to music, on full tilt, I'd be lucky to see 142 dB spl...
Alot of people invest alot of $$$ finding the best setup
and the last line is BS 5 15's on full tilt only hitting 142? yeah like someone from JL told you that... K well burp it full tilt and watch the numbers anyway.
Obviously but 171.7 is A HELL OF ALOT to sqeeze out of a system you would be lucky to get 142 out of. that is 30 db's difference 5X Audibly louderThe box they used was designed and redesigned over 100 times to achieve they most output they could squeeze.
I'm sure they did, more than 8 years ago, Rodney didn't know much but he sure knew this.JL did get a lot of angry replies, when people bought 15w3's and expected to blow their sunroof off with the right power and couldn't
Btw (your math)= (fail)Btw every 6 dB, you double up. so in reality. 21 dB more would be 9.8 times louder~
and I did the research, Intensity or Spl and Percieved loudness are different.
A sound 20 db's louder than another is (audibly) about 4 times louder.
In terms of actual intensity, 20 db's is 100 times louder.
meaning if you took your boy's setup with the 4 12's and multiplied it by 100
(thats 400 L7's and 800,000watts) he could match the 5 W3's
Thats 400 sq. feet of speaker alone and enough power to light a house for a while. you are talking about an 18-wheeler just to carry it all.
