L7 or 13w3v3

i have to go out for a while, try to find the highest RMS you've seen on a L7...

Sure its not a daily system, but i think it stand to reason if 2 subs perform similarly at their peak performance, they also will perfrom similarly below it.

Dman, i'm not going to waste time comparing daily systems with you because they are so install dependant it would be completely pointless... then even if i came up with 1000 examples of the w3 being louder than the L7 you and others would then procede to blur the lines of what a daily system is. which is completely subjective and can't with verifiability be argued.

so like i said lets go by the extremes! simple!

why is anyone arguing with this inbred fukkstick
Maybe, cause you're so fat...

here is the one I was thinking of

8.8kw on 4 L7

wow thanks! my work is done...

He said 8.0k, not 8.8.

So we have 4 12" L7's burping on 2k a piece doing 150.9...

Or we have 5 15" w3's burping on 2k a piece doing 171.7...

at that level, 21 db's is quite a bit more to achieve. (isn't that like 7x louder?)

but i'm sure you could achieve the extra db's by strapping on another 12 not!...

hell strap on 4 more 12's and 8 more k's and i still doubt your gunna get that...

But i'd like to know where ur gunna fit all that stuff...

not to mention i'm still comparing a sub weaker than the W3V3

OMG you're so totally right! the w3 can't hold a candle to the L7's:rolleyes:

man,i would buy a w3 before the L7, but the L7 will have more output. End of storyyyyyyy1
You are the thickest person I have ever encountered on this forum.

setups in question... (4) 12" L7's burping on 2000watts a piece yielding 150.9db

this compared to (5) 15" W3's burping on 2000watts a piece yielding 171.7db (4x) louder

SOOOOO you know what that means?

The following is largely to do with install but hopefully not only:

here's where i am confused but both statistics are impressive...

20 db's is 100x more intense yet only 4x audibly louder.

so i'm not sure if 4 or 100 times the equiptment is required to climb 20db's

this site says 100x

http://www.glenbrook.k12.il.us/GBSSCI/PHYS/CLASS/sound/u11l2b.html

(See the last example)

That (according to intensity) means your L7 owner would need 400 L7's and 800,000 watts to reach the intensity which the mere five 15w3s achieved with 10,000

I somehow think its 4x instead of 100x...

Still meaning you would need 16 L7's and 32,000watts. still ridiculous

actually they do they are both W3's! ftw
and if i don't be specific the numbnut idiots on here nowadays would think i was saying the w3v3is stronger than the w6v2s

anyway i wasn't saying they they have anything in common... i was saying:

THE W3V3 IS STRONGER THAN THE W3V2 AND V1
For a JL Fan you know nothing about JL, They released the w3 driver, and later made it better in the second version w3v2. Then when they decided to the the 3rd w3, they scrapped everything. And started completly over, but kept it a w3 model due to relatively similar power handling, and frankly they didn't want to bestow a new W-model. W3 and W3v2 are similair, but the w3v3 has nothing, absolutely nothing to do with the original W3 driver or it's brother w3v2. Period.

hmmm well no... considering higher numbers have been acheived with W3'stry to wrap your tiny head around this... the W6v2 was designed to operate within certain smaller parameters, while the W3 is far more flexible despite its intended purpose and rated power being lower.

for example... get near the X-max of the W6v2, what do you get? ...a cone-less w6

this is because the w6 has a ligher, yet weaker cone assembly which more finely tuned and acceptable if the recomended specs are followed...

the W3's however are much more versatile because they are designed to be more (you-proof) with rubber surrounds that wont freakin break at 2x the X-max (exadgeration)... this is only one of many examples that illustrate this fact...

not to mention the w6 is only "rated" for 150 more watts than the w3
Explain to me exactly what the hell you just tried to say.

neither have you nim-rod... i've given you more proof than you've given me... 2k on an old w3 speaks quite loudly... show me 2k on an L7 someone?
I'll build a box for a 15" Kicker L7, with 2,100 RMS on it. Just for you Cotjones

Okay, first of all I called JL Audio and spoke to Rodney, he didn't know much but I was told they box was a single tone hitter and they invested A LOT of $$$ finding the right car and the right Box in order to ever achieve this. In a daily setup with five 15" W3's to music, on full tilt, I'd be lucky to see 142 dB spl...

The box they used was designed and redesigned over 100 times to achieve they most output they could squeeze.

JL did get a lot of angry replies, when people bought 15w3's and expected to blow their sunroof off with the right power and couldn't

Btw every 6 dB, you double up. so in reality. 21 dB more would be 9.8 times louder~
