L7 Making weird noise

I have 2 12 L7's with hifonics bxi2006d, last week one of my subwoofers started sounding weird. It almost sounds boomy, and like almost unclear scratchy bass. I pulled both subs out of my enclosure and played each one individually one sounded like nice clean bass, one sounded way different. I put a MM on it and both voice coils read 4.0 which says their good since their dual 4 ohm...can anyone tell me what could be the problem?

also i have these in a sub box that is only 33Wx13.5Hx18D and they sound pretty decent. what other subwoofer sound sound just as loud if not louder, either 1 12" or 2 10's or 2 12's. thanks for your help

Not sure what's wrong with the woofer. But your best bet to get louder would be to keep the l7's and get a good ported box with enough power. L7's are capable of 2 things: being very loud. And sounding like shit.

if they are a version older than the 2008, remove the rubber magnet cover and check the magnet for any splits or anything. my old L7s mag was split and it caused the magnet to shift, throwing the coil off. made the same noise too.

where is the rubber magnet cover? i looked to see if anything seemed wrong but it didnt, the other L7 i have sounds much better playing it free air and in the box

i dont think i have nearly enough room to power these L7's to the fullest. I only have 34Wx13.5Hx18.5D to work with...im wondering what would be as loud if not louder then the L7's and sound just as good if not better.

lol L7s need like 2.5 to 3.. maybe some CVRs if you want an inexpensive set up.

cvrs wont handle even close to the power that i have. I was thinking maybe 2 10 type R's or 2 10 CVX, or something that would get as loud as what i got now.
