L7 Box problem Help!!

Okay I have 2 L7 12's in a Kicker Ported box made for L5 12's the ones that come loaded together I bought the box itself not knowing that the were different sizes. So what I did was shave some of the wood from around the inside of the box were the sibs screw in. Well that worked for about a week and sounded great until from the vibration on of the screws broke the out side of the wood bescause it was too thin. When that happened there was a loud noise from the sub like wood banging together really loudly. Now after this I got 2 baffles that were made for L7's and screwed them inside the box and then screwed my subs in which made them tight but it still seemed as one screw was not in there right. My question is that where could this noise be coming from should I put some rubber stripping in between the sub and the box to give it a snug fit? would that eliminate that noise. Any advice or help would be appriciated I dont want to have to build a nox or buy another one. No smart *** comments please thanks

it makes sense just hard to understand. Let me put it this was I screw my subs into my box they all screw in fine or seem to. When they hit theres a loud noise that sounds like 2 pieces of wood banging together. The subs are fine I put them in another box and work great.

What do you mean the wood joint the screw holes are far from the outside of the box but do you think a strip of rubber between the sib and box would help?

Well it may be that your sub is not properly mounted and that is causing the problem but it's really hard to diagnose without seeing it in person and not being able to hear it. Try sanding out the holes a little more and then remounting the sub. You could try a little piece of foam or rubber between the sub and enclosure and see if that helps.

its a bad joint, bottom line, a leaky mount with L7's and you would prolly just have an L7 laying on the floorboards. what is the spec on the box, you could just be blowing the seams apart if the L7 is hitting that much harder. just save the headache and through together a stronger box.
