kx2500 going into protect..

Not too bad for 20 degree weather. You know cold does affect batteries dont you? And after streetbeating it for around 2-3 minutes, thats not that bad bro.
Cars should charge at a higher voltage in colder temperatures. My truck charges around 14.9v in the cold and about 14.4 or less warm.

If its around 40 outside mine charges at 14.5-14.6 ive got an irragi 200 amp, a big 800 cca battery thats brand new up front, and two everstart maxx's in the back all with 0 gauge. I am currently running a solid audio 2500d and my voltage never drops below 12.5, i can streetbeat all day long if i need too. And your saying if an amp is running at 12 solid volts its not good for it? I know kicker amps love alot of juice but dude, honestly.

Honestly what? He's trying to power a 2500 watt amp on a weak electrical system. What did you expect to happen? The most crucial upgrade a person can make to their stereo system is upgrading the electrical. You can't honestly expect to get full performance out of an amp as large as a zx2500 without doing some upgrading. There is no such thing as a "solid" 12 volts. There's more than just voltage involved, amps depend on current as well.

It seems as though everybody wants something for nothing these days.

Oh, you must have drycell batteries then? We poor people still run cheap walmart everstart's.
My truck will charge at 15.0v with a real cold alternator, and I run the cheap walmart everstarts too.

anyways. Our voltage was very close to the same but it didn't shut off for him. Could it be because of my cap?

Also both polecat and k4rts said they ran the same amp on a stock alternator and stock battery.

It could be the cap, it could also be your undersized power wire.
Well tomorrow I am going to take the cap off. I am also going to try to make the 0ground wire as short as possible. My 0 guage power wire will be here sometime next week.

would there be any kind of reasoning behind it if it was the cap? Or would if it was the cap would it just be a lucky thing?
A cap won't help out a real weak electrical system, it'll only put more of a strain on it.

Also, I guess the cap could be bad? I.E. be more resistant than normal or not allow current to pass through it as well.

The ground on the cap is pretty long as well.

I will let everyone know tomorrow what happen on the Solo X and what happens when I take the cap off and make my ground shorter.
You don't necessarily have to make it shorter, just get the best ground possible.

I.E. clean off the paint to bare metal, ground on the thickest sheet metal you can, etc.
