K's in a box too big

Ok I am getting fed up with my e12k right now. It's running off a jbl 600.1 so it's not underpowered. And this thing just does not get loud, and it distorts horribly when i turn it up even a little bit. Now the only thing I can think of is that the box it's in is about 1.3 cu ft, while the max recommended is 1 cu ft. now i know it's 90/10 80/20 whatever ratio of product to install, but im worried that i got a blown sub out of the box...what would be a critical difference in a blown sub compared to a box that is wayyy to big?

I talked to the tech. guy (Steve) @ Elemental Designs about getting 4 K's for a 6cu' box. He said that as long as I don't put too much power into them that I should be OK. He recommended 1200w rms for the 4. That would be only 300w rms each, but that's for 1.5cu' each. The larger the box the less power they will need. The smaller the box, the more they can handle. This is do to the amount of back pressure.

I would try a smaller box.

Or you could ask Steve....http://edesignaudio.com/ep/contactus.htm

doesn't sound like a blown sub, it'd be buzzing like all hell at all volumes. Check your box for leaks, check your gains (no reason they should be up past about 1/4 of the way) check your polarity, Check your deck, Make sure any 'loud' option or 'bb' option is off.

Can try adding something like a block of wood into the box as well. I don't see any reason it would really be having a problem with a box of that size.

Ya I know the box leaks, i did my best to seal it but hey. hopefully by the end of next week ill have a new box. My bass boost is off and my gain is about 1/3 i guess. I think I will try to add some wood to the box to make it smaller.

If you do know the box leaks, there is your cuase, culprit, and solution right there //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
