is the minila folder sposed to wrap all the way around the pole vent?

and do you spray the accelerator on after the cone is down on top of the glue? also where do u spray the accelerator

As long as your atleast 3/4 of the way or more around the pole you are good to go... You just dont want to go all the way around and go to far and overlap the shim

Yes,, you spray the accelerator on after the cone is down... Once the cone is down in place I will run another bead around the spiders and around the outer lip of the surround... It kinda sandwiches everything together.. Then I will hit it with some accelerator...

Nice thread. Just popped my "reconing" cherry last week.
Only thing I would add is to test fit the coil once the shims are in place and make sure it slides up/down freely with no side movement.

And use activator so you don't have to wait 24 hours //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

then take a Manilla Folder and some index cards and make a shim for the recone to center up on... With this sub I used One Manilla Folder and 4 Index cards.. You dont want it to tight but make it tight enough that the recone dosent move all around

I should also add in there that u start out with one manilla folder then build up from there until it is snug

I disagree, you want it as tight as possible, least amount of possible error that way. Plus you make sure that the coil is perfectly centered.

My AQ recones came with shims...

if its too tight, then you cant get the shims out of the gap.
