Koda8 Box help!

Hey, I'm about to order an 8 for the box I just made. But, I think I under-planned during box building, because I've worked it out a my box has a volume of 0.32056 cubes. On the Adire Audio site, http://www.adireaudio.com/ , theres a chart with box info on it saying you can put the 8 in a sealed box as little as .25 cubes. But, is that .25 unloaded, or .25 with the sub in?

BOX Size Notes

Low Q Sealed 0.55 ft³ sealed (Qtc=0.6) Stuff with 8 ounces of polyfill

Mid Q Sealed 0.35 ft³ sealed (Qtc=0.7) Stuff with 4 ounces of polyfill

High Q Sealed o.25 ft³ sealed (Qtc=0.8) Stuff with 4 ounces of polyfill

Small SQL 0.5 ft³ tuned to 35 Hz, Ø2" x 11.5"L Use 25 Hz subsonic

Large SPL 1.0 ft³ tuned to 40 Hz, Ø3" x 9"L Use 30 Hz subsonic

Large SQL 1.0 ft³ tuned to 28 Hz, Ø2.5" x 14"L Use 25 Hz subsonic

Thats the chart on the site. Now, what does Qtc=0.8 mean? If that means .25 cubes loaded, could I get away with .24056?

Also, what does it mean when it says stuff with 4 ounces of polyfill?

Finally, if I don't have enough space for the Koda8, are there any subs that require less space?

Sorry for the barrage of questions but I wanna get ordering!!

.25 after sub displacement

Polyfill is the stuff you find in cheap pillows, get some at wal mart.

If you dont have enough space make some.

The Koda 8 is a really nice woofer, i gonna get 2 ( eventually)

Would maybe a 1/2" mounting ring give me that little bit of space needed? Also, what does the polyfill do? just dampen reverberation within the box?

Polyfill it dampens the waves making the woofer think its in a larger enclosure.

Are you using 3/4" MDF or 1/2" ?

Actually, if I were to make a mounting ring, it would be made out of left over 3/4" MDF. Would that do the trick?

Use 1/2" MDF.

There is no need to use 3/4" MDF on such a small woofer.

You will definetly gain the extra volume if you use 1/2"

aaaahhhh ****, I already used the 3/4". Should I really go back a do it again. Will it make that much of a difference?

No, you can use a mounting ring.

with 1/2" MDF you will have:

0.384ft^3 without displacement.

...which would put me pretty much right where I want to be...but, I don't feel like making another box so I think I'll go with the ring for now and maybe do the 1/2" down the road. Thanks alot for the help supa_c and for the lightning fast responses!

Oh, a little off topic, but what kind of amp should I get for this. I want to keep it under $100 if I can, maybe a Profile 200x1?
